RF "holy trio" pricing. Holy S....

Canon USA's press release for the RP had the title:

"Full Frame For The Masses! Canon Introduces Its Second Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera — The EOS RP"

They overlooked the fact that the masses would appreciate some affordable lenses. :-)

I guess we'll have to wait for the f4 zooms.

Or is the M mount looking better and better?

If the rumors sites are on target, and they can be sometimes, the upcoming f2.8 trio of RF zooms will not be cheap. In fact, if the predicted prices are right, well, out of my range.
  • Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM 82,600 THB – $2499 USD
  • Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM 82,600 THB – $2499 USD
  • Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM 93,500 THB – $2799 USD
Add a body and you're at $10Ki for a basic 3 zooms lens kit.

Canon has lost me I think after 30+ years. Cameras are behind everyone else. Lenses are technically great, but large/heavy and with prices that bring tears to your eyes.

I guess they want me to shoot an M system, since R is so expensive. No way that is gonna happen. Seems they forgot there are serious amateurs that can spend more than the typical soccer mom on a camera, but can't drop $10K to get a camera and set of lenses.
Hahaha!!!

You are funny, and definitely trolling. The holy trinity f2.8 zooms are most definitely not "basic". If they were f4s... sure.

You are welcome to compare prices from the other two major competitors. Equivalent lenses are ALL priced in the same ball park. Heck in many cases these canon lenses are actually cheaper.

And FYI, the actual US dollor pricing puts them at 200-300 dollars lower than the prices above.

Additionally the RF cameras are generally cheaper than their DSLR counter parts. So I don't know why you are making it sound like canon upped pricing cause they have not.

Like a bajillion EF lenses starting at $100? :-)

And the affordable RF lenses have started coming, and will no doubt continue coming.

A prior Canon owner wanting entry-level mirrorless can clearly use it with his or her existing lenses.

A new entry-level Canon buyer should be very happy with the RP and 24-240 all-in-one lens, or step up to L with the very well priced 24-105/4L being offered as a kit deal, and a compact, affordable, 35mm prime much cheaper than the Nikon.

Your comment is nothing but whining.

In fact I was disappointed in the trollish and inaccurate title given to this thread. The Holy Trio pricing is bang-on the money, it is exactly what it needs to be for lenses of this capability, and right in the mix with the competition. End of discussion.

Whether or not each individual here can afford them is a matter between them and their bank manager, and not a comment on Canon and their pricing of these lenses.
