RX100VA vs Canon G5X ii

I presently own a Sony Rx100 ii.

I am tempted by both the Sony Rx100 VA and the Canon G5 X M2.

If the winner would be the better camera in low light environnement and when you can't have long exposure time , who would it be?
Not enough data.

If you need phase detect or the best video: RX100VA. Better video and much better AF.

If you're still pictures only: G5XM2. More reach and wider apertures.
I'm in the process of choosing between these exact two cameras, upgrading from a G7X Mark II!

I take a mixture of landscapes, street scenes, interior pictures (some with poor lighting). I like to do candid shots of family in buildings, but will be going to some national parks in Norway this summer. I have three dogs and it's hard to catch them in focus with my current G7X Mark II.

I plans to use my camera for videos rather than buy a new camcorder.

All in all which, seems like a better and more versatile fit?

Landscapes?

Indoors?

City streets?

Active, close-up animals?

The Sony VA apparently has the awesome auto focus of the latest Sony's. That will help you grab photos of your dogs.

I just picked the Canon G5X M2 for me, but I ruled out the VA because I'm ready for a touch screen (I kept touching the screen of my old camera on my last trip). I also like to take macros in my garden, and I'll care about the difference between focusing at 5cm and 7cm. So neither the Sony VA nor the VII was quite ideal for my style.

But I'm not trying to photograph active dogs. I think the VA may be your best bet.

Thank you! This is helpful. I hadn't thought of macro shots. My daughter likes taking macro shots of flowers and bumblebees.. That's just part of the equation. All reviews suggest that the Sony is better for videos (another part of the equation). So Sony is winning 2:1. Do you know which is better for landscapes, indoors and on city streets? I should also add portraits.
