Hi, hope someone can help. I have recently bought an X-t2, and have been trying the ef-x8 accessory flash, but it is taking a very long time to recharge after one flash, usually between 10 to 20 seconds each time, which doesn't seem right to me. I have heard that it can be a little slow to recycle, approx. 3-5 seconds, but this is taking much longer. The camera also freezes and will not allow me to change anything or change to LCD from EVF, or vice versa, while the flash is charging. This is with the original battery that came with the new camera. Anyone else experiencing this, or does this seem faulty? Thanks.

I'd start with different fresh batteries. If rechargeable, charge them and a change in batteries may still be needed. As for the "lockup", check your camera flash settings as this is configurable.

Thanks. I cleaned the battery contacts and since then it has definitely improved, still slow, but better. Probably taking about 5 - 10 seconds now rather than 20 seconds, so at least an improvement!

The EF-X8 flash is notoriously slow as it has no batteries of its own and relies on the camera battery.

That’s why many people leave it forever in the box.

Still, it’s included with the camera, is very small and light, and can be useful in a pinch.

Hi, I recently mentioned in this post about the issues I am having with the EF-X8 flash on my X-T2. Well I pretty much gave up with that flash in the end, as it is still behaving very oddly. I bought a meike mk320 flash for Fuji (I have the Panasonic version of this, and it's been brilliant) but have tried it on the X-T2 this morning, and it's behaving in much the same way again. Will take one or two pics fine, then stop working, or a couple of times, the camera has locked up in the middle of taking a photo, press the shutter and everything locks, and I have to turn it off and turn the flash off to get it to finish taking the photo. All in all, just doesn't work with either of these flashes at all, the ef-x8 or the mk 320. The other thing it does, is when it's in TTL, after a couple of photos, I will find it has switched to manual flash, and then doesn't work anyway. It seems there must be some problem with the camera here. I have had it about 7 weeks. I have contacted Fuji support, but haven't had an answer yet. Has anyone else experienced weird behaviour with flash like this? Thanks.
