Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a slim and non-photography looking Satchel/Shoulder bag similar to the one in the link below. It would be ideal if it had padding or dividers for a small mirrorless setup.

The video is a great watch.

Wotancraft has outstanding craftsmanship and they have a couple of bags that look similar:

The Peak Design everyday sling in 5L or 10L would also work:

Avoid Ona: they look good form a distance but are poorly designed and have questionable materials and finish.

Alternatively, you could get a regular bag and fit an insert into it.

Billingham.

Pick up a cheap canvas contractors briefcase from Home Depot or similar and find a padded insert to fit in it. Tenba sell padded inserts in various sizes.

This one for almost no money:

Don't know if you have AliExpress where you live, but there it's even cheaper: half the price of this eBay add.

I have it. It's small, very well padded: definitely a camera bag. Opens and closes single handedly. And it's very handsome.

Get to Walmart. Target, or a similar department store and see what they have.

I was wondering why the OP would be asking such a vague, generic question in the title. The link in the original post, which is not part of the signature line, does not take one to a review or discussion of bags. Hmm.

The world is full of bags and satchels that can carry a camera, but have no overt photography-related logos or labels. One simply has to decide the lifestyle image one wants to project to the world, while carrying the bag. Bike messenger? Attorney? Homeless vagrant? Tactical Timmy? For every social role, there is an appropriate bag. If the internal padding is insufficient, there are nice inserts available from Tenba, Mindshift, Billingham, and Ona, to name a few that come to mind.

By accident of availability, I learned to use Canon and Nikon DSLRs at the same time. I love specific lenses made by both Canon and Nikon, too much to quit either system. Dabbling with Leica-M is fun, too. I am, certainly, not an expert.

OK, sorry, I did not know you were asking what bag Alan Schaller was using. It was not easy for me to discern much detail, in the two brief moments it made an appearance! He has a site, and IG; perhaps he will reply to an inquiry.

Try looking at the bag that Adam Marelli is having built by Chapman, in the UK. The all-black version is listed by Leica Store Miami dot com, for USA sales. Adam Marelli can be contacted for direct sales, and has both the all-black and the two-tone olive/brown color choices. This is not an inexpensive bag

I have the all-black Chapman/Marelli bag, sourced from Leica Store Miami, and a light brown discontinued shoulder bag, made by Sneaky Bags, which I scored on evil-bay. My Sneaky Bag has no padded insert or other padding, unless I use a piece of bubble wrap or a Tenba or Domke Wrap. The Sneaky bag might seem a bit “tactical,” because it is, being built to discreetly carry a row of AR15 magazines. I have no need to carry a row of rifle magazines, but it nicely holds my D5, with a pancake lens affixed, with some combination of lenses and Speedlights being inside the side pouches, which are water-bottle-sized.

Budget

Gear

Weatherproof.

First thought: for small kit, Billingham Hadley Digital. I have one. It's awesome, provided I use a pad on the strap to prevent slippage. I carry my a6000 with one lens (FE24240; it's big and heavy) and my RX100-2 for backup. I have room left over.

Second thought: Think Tank Retro 7 or 5. I sold my Retro 10 because it was heavy. But it's cloth and my thought is it's not weatherproof. Put their raincover on and the bag is a heavy brick of a thing with a camera inside.

Third thought. Sling. Think Tank Turnstyle 20; or MindShift Photocross 13. I have had both.

Sorry.

Just read your second post. Leather. I don't have any leather bags....I do have some trimmed with leather.

Suggest you do a google image search. leather photo bag. Something like that. You'll get a million responses and you can pick the style you want.

I feel I can't help you find a style you like.

Please show me a leather satchel with a slim profile like the one in the OP link that can be used for photography.
Ah, leather. Oberwerth bags are a place to start looking. My wife uses an Oberwerth Kate and Bayreuth. I recently took delivery of a Heidelberg, but may use it as a gift, so I have not used it.

Ona is very trendy, as some provide better rain/dust coverage at each end. If choosing Ona, with the idea of using it in the weather/dust, choose carefully. Brixton seems to provide decent coverage, compared to the Bowery, for example. My wife has a Nikon 100-year bag, which was made by Ona, and seems to be a Brixton. She has a couple of Ona Bowery bags, which do not have good coverage, at the ends, so would be better used indoors.

I have the Think Tank Photo Signature 13. It is a beautifully crafted bag with leather trim and will carry my macbook pro as well. The smaller bag is the Think Tank Photo Signature 10 and may be the perfect bag for you...

I also have the Tenba Cooper 13. It also will accommodate my computer. Assuming you don't need it to work with a computer, the Tenba Cooper 8 may be a great option for you. It has more pockets and places to put small items. It also has leather trim, well made.

Well, today, my silly tablet tablet finally played the whole video, so I could see what it shows at 01:21. Actually, the bag is even more visible, later in the video. I also saw that this photographer, Alan Schaller, has a music/art background that predates his photography, and a highly-developed fashion sense. This bag could well be a bespoke bag, made to order, from a custom shop in London, or such. An example of such a maker would be Freddie Falcon, though I am not saying that I would recognize a Freddie Falcon bag, or that Alan Schaller is using a Falcon bag.

Be aware that a search engine algorithm will provide a USA user with ten point two bazillion hits for the Atlanta Falcons athletic team mascot, who is apparently known as Freddie.

Ming Thein commissioned Freddie Falcon to make to make limited runs of camera bags. Those were not all-leather, however, as the bag in the video appears to be.

Alan Schaller’s bag does not appear to be an Overwerth, as the strap has a buckle, rather than the LOXX fasteners present on Oberwerth bags.

My favorites are the Tenba Messenger bags. Different sizes depending on the dimensions of your camera and lenses. Like that they are available in something other than black and look like a business satchel and not a camera bag. Well designed and top quality construction.
