New updates for Sony cameras (3.01 not 3.00) released

haha If I heard that noise, I'd return the camera pronto.
The IBIS malfunction happened in the first day of my 2-week vacation lol ))

I've done 1600 photos while fighting this shaking and sound, because I didn't have any other choice but switching to my phone camera.
I guess if it fixes your problem, then you are correct.

I was excited for a second to see upgrade to a7II, but yeah, improved stability sounds boring...
When it comes to issues with stability, boring is good and much better than the alternative, no?

I'll take a look tonight at the current version of my FW. The camera was ready to pick up after service on May, 14. It would be funny if it's already at v3.01, which was publicly released today.

Part of me wished to see that minimum shutter speed setting.

EDIT: Anyway it's good to see some love for older bodies.
A7II already has Auto ISO min shutter speed. You are thinking of A7 and A7R.
No, the A7ii was the last Sony to not have this feature (min. shutter in aperture priority mode). I know because I own one.

It does. I have a friend who has this camera. I went to the setting myself in his menu.

If you could tell me the menu and page number of where to find that setting on the A7II I'd appreciate it. The feature has never been on the V2 model as far as I could see. I agree that it was added after the A7II.

Improves the overall stability of the camera. 😓
Disappointed...No Eyelash AF like on the Nikon Z's...
haha. Sony destroys Canikon.

Earlier: Sony never updates firmware!
Now: New firmware? Why!
2 possibilities: 1. Severe bug, or 2. Sony has understood that they need to support their existing customers

huh, there you go. I thought all second gens got it. Wonder what I was looking at then :-|

Just tested it and it with my A7-iii. The latest firmware is not just about stability (though I did not experience that with v3.00). For videographers, it breaks the 30min video limit.

Well, I can vouch for the A7-iii at least as it is what I have. I am sure it will be true for other models as well.

Right now, I am shooting continuously and I am at almost 35min straight shooting! :)

Will this update bring back the 3rd party battery message or not? ...who is brave enough out there to test this for us. :)
Just tried on 3.01 with a Watson battery .. got the same warning message to click thru as before .. camera and battery work fine (marketing propaganda ).

Loaded 3.01 in my a7 III. All seems well after test shots.

Interesting. Guess is minor bug fix.

BTW, I tried the new real-time AF-C tracking from A9's FW 5 in last Saturday airshow at Andrews JFB. Its tracking is excellent once locked on the subject. But the problem is that it takes longer time to gain initial lock on the subject (plane) and sometime it locked on the wrong subject. Partially could be related to 1.4x TC on FE 100-400 GM. I returned to old regular Zone that gains initial lock much faster and tracking is good enough. Hope future update will improve the initial lock speed and let me control on what subject to lock (similar to regular Flex-Spot lock). I am in China for two weeks and will update to the latest FW after return home.

I would get a "This accessory is not supported by the device and cannot be used. Please verify the compatibility with the device." when I mount the Air Remote with firmware A3 on my firmware 5 A9.

Did this problem go away with 5.01? I returned my Air Remote S and wonder if this solves the bug.

Thanks, I will try the update myself this evening after my battery is fully charged. I'll come back with impressions.
