Hi,

I'm planning on buying a a6000 camera and wanted to know if I will be able to use my a7iii lens with it.

I know this is a cropped sensor and the image will be zoomed, I just want to know if there are any other issues? Compatibility etc?

I currently have:

Zeiss 55mm 1.8

Sony 85mm 1.8

Tamron 28-75mm 2.8

Samyang 35mm

Thanks.

Technically the image isn't zoomed - the view and framing is just cropped. That aside, yes, all of your lenses will work 100% on the A6000 without having to set or do anything - make sure you have the most recent firmare on the A6000 for best compatibility with newer Sony lenses.

Kind of curious why you are buying the a6000 if you have the a7III. I have the a6400 with the 18-135mm and Sigma 16mm. I have a few regrets not getting the A7III with the tamron 28-75mm. I figure its a pretty small and light kit. The a6000 with the lenses you have will save you a little weight and size. The a6000 is about half the weight of the a7 III (12 oz vs 22 oz).

Everything should work, although you aren't going to have anything wide. The Sigma 16mm 1.4 would be a good lens to get to fill in the wide angle. You'd still have a gap from 25-41mm. Getting the 18-135mm will cover the entire range you have mentioned, albeit at a slower speed.

Maybe should have put more context into my original post.

I'm planning on buying this for my daughter who's learning photography. She's had my 10+ year old canon and I thought I'd upgrade that for her. Buying the A6000 means she will have access to all my lenses and I don't have to buy any new ones. Also, if my A7iii fails then we have a backup camera.

yes, it will work pretty well. the a6000 is an underrated camera and argually the best value camera out right now.

They all work, but no ibis.

I’d get the 16-50 kit lenses to start with.

Buy used. There are a lot of a6000 kits on eBay.
