I just brought the Sony a6400 last week.

Just planning to buy a Good lens for that .

I have seen some reviews of Sigma 19mm 2.8 DC DN ART.

But some reviews says that this is third party lens so Only use the centre autofocus points. But I couldn't understand how it will be like or how focusing screen look like.

Also if you feel something good lens apart from Sigma 19mm Please do let me know. Also I need some openion for Sony 20mm lens compared to this.

Thank you in Advance,

Anurag.

Love from India.

I have the A6300 and A6400 and they both work like a charm with the Sigma DC DN Art lenses, I have the 30mm and the 60mm versions and see no reason why they would operate any differently than the 19mm.

I have access to all focus modes, including Eye AF, so no complaints on AF and with regards to image quality I find these lenses to be amazing, not just relative to their costs, but amazing in general and when compared to far more expensive lenses.

I don't have the 20mm Sony so I cannot help you with comments on that one.

I think 19mm is too wide. I prefer the Sigma 30mm f2.8 (EX DN) for walk around/travel photography. It's small and light and cheap and incredibly sharp.

I guess it depends on budget and desires (weight/size), but I think the Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC DN and Sigma 16mm f1.4 offer much more flexibility for shooting in lower light and provide superior bokeh/depth of field when wanted.

I agree with you Boss, the Sigma 30 f2.8 (EX DN) is a GREAT walk around/travel prime lens! I don't do street photography (can't stand it), but for car, boat, motorcycle shows, etc, etc... it does a fantastic job. When not using my Sony 18-135 (very versatile!) or 70-300G (wildlife/sports), the Sigma 30 f2.8 is the only prime lens I own and use. Yep, it's that good. ;-)

Since you asked for "best" street photography lens I vote for the Sony Zeiss 24/1.8. I purchased this recently second hand at a great price and in mint condition. I believe 24mm is a good focal lens for street

Sony E mount 20mm is not available in India and Emount 35 mm is costly too.In the price of SEL 35mm you can buy both Sigma 19 and 30 mm.

I have 19mm and it is very good. I have the Sigma 30mm 1.4 and it is too bulky to be a street lens. Try the 16-55 kit lens at f8 and even Sony 16mm is much reviled but cheap and at f6-8 it is quite decent - costs 8000 Rs or so.

16mm sony cannot use PDAF

I have all sigma lenses with updated firmware and with A6400 eyeAF works as intended not sure about PDAF .

Very few have compared Sigma 60mm f 2.8 with 56mm 1.4 at 2.8 . I am not buying the 56mm 1.4 yet and keep the 60mm 2.8 as it is just so good and does the job.

Hands down the Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC. First lens you should buy. Just amazing!

Then when you can add to it the Sigma 16mm 1.4 e 56mm 1.4 and be amazed!

I mostly use the 16-50 kit lens and the 20mm 2.8 for street photography. 20mm (30mm equiv.) is excellent FL for street and relatively fast. 16-50 offers a great range. Both are small, light, and unobtrusive - essential for street photography. For night I sometimes use 35mm 1.8, another tiny lens. All of the above have image quality that is perfectly fine for street, which is not about technical perfection, and fast AF.

From Sigma:

Fast Hybrid AF does not work on Sigma 2.8 series lenses.

I am happy with what I was getting with A6400 + Sigma 19 and 60mm. Looks like I am not fast enough to put them through the paces and exploit vulnerabilities.

I have the Sigma 19mm f2.8 and I like it stopped down for landscapes, but for street and general travel I mostly use the Sony 35mm f1.8 - it is much better in low-light conditions. The Sigma is not a big investment if you want to try it out though.

Pankaj Ji, Thank you for your valuable comments..

Are you sure the eye-AF works with the Sigma 2.8 lenses, since they don't work with PDAF? Or does the eye-Af only work within the central zone of the image, as i believe this is where AF-C works for the Sigma 2.8 lenses.

The 1.4s work with all focus points, those i know are OK.

It works for me even in the lateral thirds of the frame. Switching eye works as well.

AFC, flexible spot S/M and tracking flexible spot M works too.

i am not sure how to work out whether it is PDAF or CDAF working as there is significant overlap in A6400.

it works for my needs.

I have had the Sigma 16mm for a few days now and I'm pretty sure I've seen eye AF working. I'm going to test it tonight for sure. Tracking AF works fine. I am considering the Sigma 30mm as a street lens. It could be smaller, but I don't think it looks too big for the street

Thanks, but the 16mm is one of the 1.4s. My question was related to the 19/30/60 f2.8 versions, the older ones. On the a6000 they only did AF-C on the center of the frame, and no eye-AF.
