Hello Ricoh Fans....

Does it matter at all that the GR III is not yet listed

here >> https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208967 ?

I can edit GR III RAW files on both iOS and Mac (all current)

with very good results. Should I continue or shoot JPEG?

When will Apple offer updates and put GR III on RAW list?

Interest here is to get best IQ on Apple devices with GR III.

Thanks in advance

W.

hey, the GRIII's native RAW files are the universal .DNG standard so they should be 100% compatible, as you've already discovered. enjoy

Is it really that simple?

BTW... nice photo work on your web site!

Then why does Apple post this list?

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208967

(No mention of .DNG)
There is basically only one or two raw formats per each camera manufacturer that are actually in use, I suspect this list is basically because it's easier for someone new to their camera to see their model vs seeing some weird fileformat they might not be sure on

I don't really know what "support" for raw files at the OS level of mac entails but DNG is a fairly standard and common format so in general it will work almost anywhere other raw files do regardless of specific camera model support lists - where it may lack in support is for things such as specific lens distortion correction or specific noise reduction profiles (but I would imagine this is per application anyway and "macOS support" here wouldn't change much)

I can edit the GR III .dng files in the Darkroom app on my Iphone XS. It an excellent app and makes it very easy to get the most out of the GR III files and get them to social media without fuss.

As others already wrote, DNG files are supported so macOS can preview/open files from the GRIII.

But it will do so with a generic profile until one is added in a future update. It means colours may not be optimized for the camera right now.

Then how about lens vignetting? It seems in Apple Photos there isn't a way to fix it.
