EOS R feedback inquiry (latest firmware)

on the fence between 5d4 and EOS R.

1) how is the tracking eye AF?
Works great. Had Lisa turn around in place til she got dizzy. Used the 85 1.2 which is known for slow focusing and got several hits every time she faced me which only lasted a second or two at a time. It was really cool to look at the sequence in DPP4 with the AF points showing in Red. Watching the AF points move and change between frames was very impressive. I may make a short video of it if time and Lisa allows.
2) did they fix the shadow noise issue from launch?
There wasn’t a significant shadow noise issue to begin with. However, there have been several posts to the forum stating that it has been significantly diminished even further.

I haven’t used my 5D4 since I got the R last October except for astro because it has an internal intervalometer and works some extra magic with the 35mm 1.4 L ii.

Eye AF does work better, no question.

I haven't had any issues with shadow noise, so I can't really answer that one.

Same here.

I lost my settings and I could not get the swipe bar to do magnified view and expanded magnified view. Eventually I got it to work but not exactly as before. I don't know if its related to the firmware 3.0 but I had great trouble getting the magnify view function reassigned to the swipe bar.

Can't comment on that, either, since I don't use the swipe bar. The buttons are all I really need. I guess I'm not as picky as most. But, really, this "shadow noise" BS is highly overstated.
