Why is MicroSDXC a lot cheaper than SDXC?

The market for phone memory cards is huge and very competitive. On the SD front, not so much. So they sell SD cards for a bigger profit, especially since they ship a lot less of them. So that's the economy of scale.

Lucky for us, memory cards in general are already very cheap and fast enough, i have to recharge the battery on my camera multiple times before i even fill up my 16gb card with jpegs. A typical 32-64gb card can hold thousands of images, for most people that's enough to store all the photos they take in a entire year!

We don’t all shoot JPEG , hence for the majority on here who are likely to shoot RAW those 32 or 64 Gb cards are likely to hold a few hundred images .

I have certainly gone out and filled two cards in one shoot , and I have several dozen so that I can cover big jobs without fear of running out .

I can’t say that I’ve particularly noticed price differences between the two types - my local Tesco tends to have them side by side at very similar prices - confounded slightly by the various offers which come and go week by week - sometimes even having a few of a certain card type reduced to a fraction of the normal price , with identical cards on the next peg at full price!

No difference in speed with or without the adapter. Nil.
