I have been in Hong Kong for 1 month recently and bought some camera gear there.
My relatives told me that not many people go to a brick and mortar store anymore. Everyone uses an app to find the best price and goes to one of those sellers. However most of the time it is a small office in a skyscraper and this is not a joke. A skyscraper with many levels full of small offices and those camera gear sellers rent those as a shop and storage space. The staff are mostly not fluent in English.
To be honest I don't have any trust in those sellers because I don't believe that they exist in the long run hence if anything is wrong with the gear warranty claim will not be easy.
There is
Tin Cheung Camera and I know it for more than a decade. I regularly buy photographic gear from them (in their shops) every time I visit Hong Kong.
There are 3 stores:
1) Tin Cheung Camera Co (Central)
It is the easiest to reach and to find. This small shop looks quite fancy.
2) Tin Cheung Camera Co (iSquare)
This one is located in the iSquare shopping mall tower with many restaurants in the famous Nathan Road. You can find the shop on one of the highest levels in the skyscraper. It has the largest display space.
3) Tin Cheung Camera Co (Mongkok)
This shop is located in the famous
Sin City tower. It is famous for the many levels of a plenty of shops that sells vintage film cameras and legacy lenses. However there are also shops selling the latest and greatest stuff (cameras, lenses, accessories, bags, tripods etc.). Alternatively you can buy the GR III in one of the other shops beside Tin Cheung Camera.
Head over there if you want to explore all those awesome vintage and legacy stuff but bring a lot of time with you. You can spend your time in that tower for hours!
Have fun over there!
