I had an VI and bought one for mt wife on the trip. Photos were great. After thousands of $$$$ with Canon gear that may be all I/we take in the future unless I go on a real photo-taking trip just for photoing.

Will post some photos later.

Cool. Gonna take my m6 to SoCal this weekend and take photos. I had the m5, but I’m pumped up for the extra zoom with the 6.

I’m hoping my vacation gets approved in May also coz i can’t wait to go to Europe for some travel photography.

My wife and I are off to Mexico in October. Riviera Maya area. Will be picking up waterproof housing for my RX100 V for this trip. Cenotes / cave diving looks like fun. Did you do any Cenotes in Mexico? Any tips? Our first time to Mexico.

I will probably do the same and leave the big expensive stuff at home and just take RX100 V and RX10 IV with me.

Look forward to seeing some photos.

All the best,

Mark

So you are just taking the small expensive stuff. :-)

I too have fallen in love with that camera for traveling. Sort of feel sorry when I see people with heavy SLRs around their necks.

Exercise increased caution in Mexico due to crime. Some areas have increased risk. Read the entire Travel Advisory.
Violent crime, such as homicide, kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery, is widespread.

Sounds like many areas here in the good old USA.

Funny, I was just thinking exactly the same thing! London, Barcelona, New York, Johannesburg, Moscow, Rome etc.

Good advice for sure but lets not make out this is Mexico. It could be pretty much anywhere on the planet! I spent 15 years of my life travelling the World on a weekly basis. I went to some beautiful countries. I also went to some places I would never want to visit again!

Stay vigilant, stay safe 👍😁

Best to all,

Mark.

Only in Chicago

I find your lack of knowledge disturbing.

We went to San Miguel de Allende and took one day to make a loop to a couple of different towns near there.

This was my 2nd trip to SMA and I can't imagine a safer place. Absolutely no problem. Temps were in the mid 80's during the day and so pleasant and no humidity.

Ditto what somebody said about Chicago. Also El Salvador is the murder capital of the world for its' population. 11 to 14 people per day get killed and I think the population is 4,000,000. Read an article about it and you can buy an "economy" casket for US$90.00.

Good advice. Don’t let strangers put away your bags and personal belongings for you even if they are just trying to help.

Some guy guy who I thought worked for the bus company helped me stow away my backpack overhead in the compartment inside the bus. When he did that, he took off with my iPad and rx100m3. My m3 had unsaved pictures (10 days worth) of travel pics of the 4 day Inca trail to macchu picchu, and 6 days worth of Cusco town pics and surroundings. I’m so annoyed to this day. The camera and iPad doesn’t bother me, it’s the memory card and lost pics

this happened in Chile in a border town after crossing over from Peru
