We visited my brother recently, he has a collection of old wood chairs. One, the wood seat is hinged in the front, lift it up, there is a 'riser' that can be flipped up in the back, about 2-1/2" high. Put the seat down, riser up, and the seat now tilts you toward... We think for sewing.

This folding chair has adjustable legs, tilts John forward.

How about those white socks.

Absolutely black backdrop.

Do I need to tell you how awesome it was to see them together like this?

There is a concert that I would have loved to be at. John Hiatt, a true singer from the Heartland. My favourite song from him is Through Your Hands......

He, and Lyle are great song writers, and this acoustic setting was super.

We saw Lyle with his Large Band in New Orleans. Amazing!

Perfect camera for the job. Great shots. Thanks for sharing!

Glad you like them, thanks,

Funny, I didn't even notice, the majority of them are ISO 6400, they don't look it. No Noise Reduction by me, I don't know how, just in-camera Jpeg NR.

I probably could have exposed/metered to get lower ISO's, I was busy being indiscreet.

Nice, you must have had good seats to get that out of rx100. Seeing his/any comedian's facial expressions from close seats is a great experience. Close enough to use eye focus!

Shooting under-exposed is what I meant, and spot metering so the camera thinks it has a lot of light, if I had done that I would have gotten lower ISO and lifted the shadows later.

Its a nice camera to have even when they don't want any photos taken at the venue [at the end during a bow is no problem]

He really tells some funny stories, between each song. And, they both discuss how they write, how they came up in the business, ... a great show.

He can buy a few more horses with his New Jersey money when he gets back to Texas.

That had to be a wonderful show.

I have seen SS several times, and, when I was in college late 60's, at Pratt in Brooklyn, Judy did an annual Christmas show at Carnegie Hall. A bunch of us jumped on front row balcony for 3 years in a row. She was in her prime then.

Arlo Guthrie also did an annual Christmas show at Carnegie Hall. I used to go to his manager's office upstairs in Carnegie Hall, and convince him to sell me a whole box on the side, then easily fill it up with friends. By then we all had some income.

My rx100m1 died. From our close seats for Lyle and John, rx100m1,2,3,4,5 , shooting wide and cropping a lower ISO cleaner original definitely would have done better than the rx100m6. But, when not close, there is a cross over point when the rx100m6 is the one you want. And, I think m6 ISO 6400 beats rx100m1,2,3,4,5 6400. It certainly surprised me when I saw 6400.

I am usually ready at entrances and exits, moments of bright lighting, encore enter/exit, and I sneak a lot of photos via blind aim between shoulders in front of me.

When they can, the front few rows blast away simultaneously using flash. From afar, staying wide, I try and time a few shots using the wall of light they create to get lower ISO.

Slower handheld ability using my m6 is of no use when there is some motion involved. Luckily, both Lyle and John had predictable minimum movement moments.

I remember when Lyle Lovett married Julia Roberts. People called it Beauty and the Beast! Obviously she was attracted to his talent not his looks. ;-)

I probably used AEL Toggle (I suspect, can't remember) for these two, wanting to show both the theater, and the details of the dome/light before they darken the place.

After a long time of doing this, it's faster for me than trying to figure out what exposure works. I aim at a darkish spot, aperture opens, lock it, rise up, works for the theater shot? take it. Too dark or light, toggle AEL off, aim at a slightly .... area, toggle AEL on, up, better? shoot.

Dome/light: Aim at a brightish area, toggle AEL (left rocker), rise up, dark enough to get the ceiling detail? take it.

I use my left rocker for AEL toggle, and the asterisk indicating AEL appears on the info line right end, so they are intuitively adjacent.

She wasn't that bad looking.

Superb! Two of my favourites!
Got home, started a marathon of listening to my Lyle and John CD's.
Slow Turning on now...... I'm a Hiatt fan..... no doubt. Got to ask... your results at high ISO with the m6 are much like mine. Your internal high ISO noise reduction is set where Elliott.... standard? high??

AFAIC, and I think you are onboard with this, this camera is a secret sauce freak. Anything that does jpegs at ISO 6400 that look like those and can turn around and shoot @ 400mm, or 24 frames a second with continuous refocusing can't possibly fit in your pocket.

Cheers Dude.. must have been a great concert.

Her voice was incredible...I swore it was a recording, but it wasn't!

Seems like you've seen a fair share of shows in the past. Ever see these/this chap in their prime?

Well done Elliott, these are excellent. I recently wondered what had happened to Lyle Lovett. They both look like they are having a marvelous time and Lovett looks better than I have ever seen him with his great smile. It was all the talk when he and Julia Roberts married.

I know you had a fantastic time!

Default NR,

sharpness in camera +1. +1 based on reading about the camera, I haven't tried '0' against +1. They don't look sharpened, so I left it there.

I use +1 in my Oly also, but not my rx100m3. don't forget I'm lazy and don't learn PP, so in-camera help if not detrimental is a good thing. I say I'm lazy, but truthfully, it gives me the challenge to learn the camera and get the best it can do OOC, which is quite good for all of them.

I am AUTO ISO all the way. No limits set. I was quite surprised to see 6400. It never occurred to me, because they didn't look noisy. My smaller sensor Oly, 1/1.7", I prefer not exceeding 800, I limit it to1600 so I don't miss something, after that I don't bother. rx100m1 and m3, I cannot remember 6400 looking this clean.

I should simply do an m3 m6 ISO shootout. Isn't there a comparometer somewhere?

Cheers Dude.. must have been a great concert.
