Hi all. The AF switch broke on my 80-200 2.8. Did some research and found no source for a replacement. Downloaded a 3d modeling program and made a file for 3d printing. This is the plastic part of the switch that moves inside the switch 'frame'.

If anyone needs this part, PM me and I'll send you the .stl file. Or, if there is a way to include the file in a post, let me know how as I don't see an option to attach a file here. I hate to think that these great lenses would be retired because of such a simple, easy to fix issue.

That's just so cool--good for you! Canon's "magic drainpipe" was a great lens.

It's very thoughtful of you to make this available. You can't post it as an attachment, but if you put a copy online somewhere you can post a link to it.

Hi, brilliant that you did this! If you would please send me the file to make one: this is the fourth failure of this part. The biggest shortcoming of an otherwise great lens (the other-- besides the weight -- is the expanding focus and zoom rings).

Happy shooting...!

I'm happy to send you the file. I am evidently not able to send private messages, perhaps because i am new on the site. Not sure if I can receive PMs or not. Please let me know how I should get the file to you. Your email or if you have a suggestion for a different site where the file could be posted for you to access.

This is really brilliant, thank you! Unfortunately I am not able to send a PM to you. Perhaps, as someone else suggested, you could post a sharable link to the file.

Dropbox might also work.

Hello all. The file can be downloaded at the link below. The part has been printed and installed on my lens and is working great. Install seems straight forward.

Okay. So I just learned that the keepandshare site requires a login for anyone to access the file. I'll leave it there, but I realize this is not acceptable. I'm looking for a way to post it for permanent public access without a paid subscription.

Update: Just put the file on Jumpshare. Please let me know if there is an issue with accessing the file at this link.

Bravo and a thousand thanks to you.

Hello everyone. Those links above didn't work anymore, but I would be interested in that file. Could anyone send it to me? Thanks in advance!

Hello! I'm in the same situation - links both lead to error pages. I would love to get a copy of this file if possible!

Hi, I'd be most grateful if someone has this file or link. My AF/MF switch on magic drainpipe just broke...😥

Thanks!

Sorry to hear that, I know it could sound harsh, but why (ab)use that in the first place?

It's a well know Achilles' heel of this otherwise amazing lens, when I bought mine, guess I've moved just a couple of times and then left always in the default AF position just out of sheer fear that it could actually broke down.

I understand that every know and then someone could love/need to MF, but for me just not worth the risk with such a venerable lens.

Hope you will manage to find the 3d printing file, wish you luck!

Does anyone have the link to the 3D files for printing ?

links not working. Could someone please share if you have the 3d files? I couldn't PM the OP. Thanks.
