I have been wanting to buy a Polaroid 250D Close Up Lens for my RX10 M4 but it seems to be unavailable everywhere! I have found a kit from B&H that has +1, +2 +4, and +10 separate filters. Would using them all stacked yield the same results as the single D250 filter? Is there a down side to using them this way? If so, is there another good option for a 250 macro lens for the RX10 M4?

Here's the link:

Opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

I've got the 250d, but as you say there doesn't seem to be any stock anywhere. I've also got a Sigma Close-up Lens AML 72-01 which, whilst not as strong, seems to produce reasonable results.

Hope this helps.

I see that this Polaroid close-up lens is readily available in 77mm. I wonder if that plus a 72 - 77 step up ring might work? (If you try it, I would be interested in the results.) Also, Canon makes a 500D in 72mm, but it is expensive.

Yes, that's what I ended up doing... excepted I couldn't find the Polaroid neither and got a Canon 500D 77mm to be compatible with one of my FF lenses

Here are my first shots with it:

You might want to know that just the +4 from the B&H kit is equivalent to the Polaroid 250D and the +2 is equivalent to the Canon 500D. That's magnification, of course, not quality. The B&H kit will be single element lenses and much lower quality than the 250D & 500D.

If you can find them then the Marumi Achromat Macro lenses are worth investigating. There's the 300 (+3) and 200 (+5), both available in a wide range of filter sizes.
