Win10:Hi Bob,Just tried opening the manual using the F1 when program is running and also worked FWIW.
Just now tried F1 (and Help) on the third Windows computer I use and sure enough, no action. Maybe here downunder things don't work the same.
A couple more old Windows machines to try yet, maybe one will work.
Anyway, I printed the thing so it's easier to read anyway, no real need to press that key any more.
Regards....... Guy.
Clicking the update button in Workspace breaks the F1 functionality on my Win10 PC too, but in my case it requires a Win10 restart , rather than just a Workspace restart to fix it.Win10:
After installing yesterday I found that F1 wasn't working. I ran the update and it told me I already had the latest version.
I tried the update again this afternoon hoping that a new fixed version would be available - but still no joy. This time I decided to restart Workplace and then F1 was working - takes me straight to the help pdf. Curious, I ran the Update again and then tried F1 and it was again 'broken'. After restarting Workplace F1 was working again.
Seems that running the Update breaks the internal link to the PDF file.

Thanks ****, but when NoScript radically modified their interface (early?) last year, they ruined it for me; as I recall, it trashed the settings I had, and I couldn't get it back to working the way I wanted. I'm using a couple of other apps instead.Get NoScript, a free and safe plug-in for FireFox. It allows you to turn javascript on or off for selected webpages.

And upon further consideration, I'm not sure that JavaScript is the sole culprit. The main reason for me to use javascript is to run Adobe Flash. Not worth the hassle. Updating it on my wife's Win 7 machine is a real pain.
Thanks, but we sorted that out already.I have a copy of the PDF in the cloud (my onedrive account).
You can download it from the following link (valid for 30 days).

What's the use? No one ever RTFMs anyway... It's much easier to ask the forum. Is there a user manual for the new software?
Where?
Thanks
It is easier still to play and fiddle with every button and slider and see what happens. What's the use? No one ever RTFMs anyway... It's much easier to ask the forum. Is there a user manual for the new software?

Actually, the only minor "pain" is the Workspace "Update Software" doesn't work. But that really doesn't bother me at the moment. I'm basically happy with with my current setup, which has the added benefit of annoying MS! :-D Lots of legacy apps running, plus no MS Store apps.I seem to have no such pains as you are.
I tend to manually update most (all? probably) of the apps. MajorGeeks.com usually has updates available, sometimes a day or two in advance of notice by developers. Occasionally I like to wait for an update to "age" before installing.Always Win 10 kept updated, Firefox always updated, Java updated, Adobe Flash updated, Adobe Reader updated, Avast free version anti-virus always updated. File Hippo used to update most other things and now and then prowl to update things that File Hippo doesn't cover.
And that's really weird! I placed the copy you provided manually in the Workspace folder, and it opens every time when I press F1 or click on Help. Opens right up in my PDF viewer (PDF-XChange Editor). Doesn't make sense. The only thing happening to me is that Workspace will or won't display the Help PDF on various PCs or at various times. They have a bug.

What I said is true, the fiddle method always finds out things you never would have known by just RTFM. Reality vs theory, reality wins in 99% of cases.Sigh....It is easier still to play and fiddle with every button and slider and see what happens. What's the use? No one ever RTFMs anyway... OK, we seem to have a flip-flop in what works and what doesn't. My Update worked fine on 3 PCs to grab the PDF, but all 3 don't behave when I use F1 or click on Help. It also leaves Adobe Reader in limbo and I cannot read any PDF files at all after trying workspace Help. Needs a reboot to sort it out, until next time I foolishly press F1 in Workspace....Actually, the only minor "pain" is the Workspace "Update Software" doesn't work. A year ago, most of the security-critical websites I visit (financial, medical, etc) required using MSIE to run Flash. Now I'm down to just one.

You don't need to reboot - open Task Manager and just end the pdf processes that F1 kicks off. That's what I do if I hit F1 by mistake - I have the pdf manual on my desktop and open that when I need it now.OK, we seem to have a flip-flop in what works and what doesn't. An old habit of mine is to try and help, as usual and as always it is the teacher who learns more than the pupil, so every time I get involved in searching to help someone I get more facts and figures stuffed into some of the grey cells - keep the little dudes active or they seize up.What surprised me is that I immediately reported how I was able to easily access it with a little help from a forum member (Guy) and this thread has gone on for several days.
Must be the engineering background. I will admit to fiddle first and then RTFM. But then I fiddle again for a few weeks and RTFM once more to find out more than I did just fiddling. I will confess to consult the manual (active pdf file actually) 2-3 times per year just to get out of my comfort zone because just fiddling has its limits...What I said is true, the fiddle method always finds out things you never would have known by just RTFM. When you buy a new car, isn't that what you do? Fiddle with the knobs and buttons to see what they do.
Has anybody on the planet ever opened a car user manual to find things out?
OK, I confess that I did once, a relative's car would not start for me, found out the correct sequence to start it was on page 105 of the manual - now that was obvious.
