I really like the fuji's xf35mm f1.4. Sharp enough for me wide open and good AF on the x-t20, though not as fast as the f2 primes. But beautiful images!

Old legacy lenses may have trouble handling flare. I recommend Fuji's own lenses, like 18 f/2, 23 f/2, 35 f/1.4, 35 f/2.

It depends on how much DOF you are looking for. If you want really shallow DOF, that go for a fast prime. But if you want to stop down to capture more of an image in focus then a faster lens won't help and you may be better off with OIS like the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4. If you can go longer, they 80mm f/2.8 also has OIS.

(And of course if you can go really long and part with one of your kidneys, there is the XF 200 mm f/2 ;-) )

anyone use manual voightlander lenses?

f1.4 40mm nokton

f1.1 50mm voightlander Nokton

f1.2/40mm Nokton

All look well made and good for night photography

Appreciated any ideas on any of these if you have them

Thanks

These are all nice, I used the 40 on a D700 and liked it. The fast Fujinons (16, 23 and 35 f/1.4, 56/1.2, and 90/2) are great lenses, though, and give AF, better coatings (I think), great acuity, and are comparably priced to the Voigtlander offerings. I do like the Voigtlander rendering and build, but I don’t think there’s a need to adapt to get a good night lens in the X world, unless you just love MF or the particular rendering of alternative lenses. That said, I have the Rokinon 12/2, Rokinon 135/2, and Leica R 21/4 on a shift adapter, because these are just not available from Fuhifilm.

On the other hand, lder 50/1.4ish Nikon AI/AIS/D and Pentax Takumars would be cheaper then Fujinons or the Voigtlanders (unless you got a good deal on a used Fujinon or Voigtlander).
