Hi,

I am new to the Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 and loving it! In manual mode it seems the biggest f stop (smallest number) I can access is 3.8. In other modes it goes all the way to 2.5. Is there some other setting I need to adjust to access the full range of f stops? I am also just getting familiar with the interplay of shutter speed, aperture and ISO.

Thanks for any tips!

for now set the iso to auto

by pressing in on the back controll dial with your thumb you can choose the f number

and the shutter speed.click it once and roll the dial and then click in another to change things

you probably have to much shutter speed selected stoping the camera going down to f 2.8

once you under stand this part you can go back to choosing the iso that you want to use

but you will still have to keep your eye on the exposure

The max aperture depends on the focal length. If you zoom, the widest available f stop goes up. It's nothing to do with manual vs auto modes.

That's similar to other cameras.

The maximum aperture varies with the focal length.

At its widest 25 mm it is f2.8. At its longest 400 mm it is f4. Intermediate focal lengths have an in between aperture.
