Some younger members of our extended family have shown an interest in photography. With Christmas on the horizon, our daughter-in-law found no-name digital cameras online for $39.95 and fortunately asked my opinion.

I went on the local Craig's list and found Panny ZS6, ZS7 and ZS8 for $30, $39 and $30 respectively. 2 came with cases, and all 3 had chargers and CD cards. The ZS6 & ZS8 could pass for new, not a scratch anywhere.

These were good cameras in 2011 and improvements to subsequent ZS's don't diminish the quality of photos they can take.

In every case the seller was a young woman who now has a cell phone camera good enough for her needs.

Here's a shot of 3 Princess Di Clematis seed pods, total height <1.5", taken with the ZS7

A bicyclist with a camera. Not a photographer with a bicycle.
