I just replaced a $400. printhead in an 8yr old but lightly used Canon IPF 6200 and immediately after replacing the printhead the magenta ink stopped printing when I did a nozzle check. Called Canon support and when I explained the problem they didn’t think it was the printhead or the ink tank and had no additional help other than giving me a number to call for a service company in my area. Calling repair I was told the cost is $150. for the service call, +150 per hour plus parts for repair. One problem they advised me is that due to the age of the printer Canon is no longer making parts so they may not be available. Canon support already advised me of the same potential problem.

Before calling service I took a look at the tubing that moves the ink. I was able to see that the magenta ink was not flowing through the plastic tubing from the ink tank about halfway to the printhead. Looked online for schematics or any info and found nothing of help.

Any advice regarding a fix or where to search for one would be appreciated before spending more money to find out the printer can’t be fixed. I already agree with my wife who said to just go and buy a new printer and I would if I didn’t have over $1,200 in ink not to mention the new printhead i just installed and couldn’t return as it was bought three months ago. I learned early on to always have a spare printhead on hand as there is no warning as to when its going to fail.

Can't help with direct info, but I'd also suggest asking on the print forum at Luminous Landscape.

The Canon ipf wiki site seems to have recently closed, but it's still available at archive.og

Here it is from May

Keith, thank you for the info. Although I couldn’t find anything regarding my particular problem on the Wiki site I will try Luminous Landscapes forum
