I just got an email from Tamron Japan saying that the first round of firmware updates for use with the FTZ adapter has been released.

The following lenses can now be updated through the Tap-In Console:
  1. SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 (Model A025)
  2. SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 (Model A022)
  3. 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD (Model A037)
Hopefully there will be more updates in the near future.

I don't have any of these lenses but good to see Tamron is taking the route of firmware updates.

I have one of the lenses but no Z-mount camera... :-(

Me too, but I'll be getting a Z6 next week ;)

Smart call! I'll wait a bit longer but the Z6 is looking very good :-)

Great to hear they are coming out with these. I have the 150-600 on the list. Unfortunately, I also have the 24-70 G2. But I'm sure that one will be coming along shortly as well.

Now I just have to buy the TAP console.

Excellent, thank you for posting this! I own 1 and 2 on the list (and #3 is a very appealing replacement or supplement for my 15-30 once I get some money back in the pot after my Z6 pre-order) and while they're big a heavy even on my D850, I was sad that they wouldn't work with my Z6. Now I have no concerns. Excellent.

I remember seeing a rumor somewhere (here, maybe?) that Tamron was going to release their own adapter. That always struck me as really dumb, so I'm pleased they're going with the sane firmware update route.

My Z6 will show up tomorrow, but one of the things I'm missing is an UWA lens. The Tamron 17-35 was my first choice because of the range, speed, and price. However, when I learned about the incompatibility of Tamron lenses with the Nikon Z cameras, I was bummed.

I'm glad to see Tamron has updated this lens, but I'd really like to see some videos of how it performs on a Z body first.

I do plan on buying the upcoming 14-30 f/4 S lens next year from Nikon, and will use the Tamron as a "stop gap" option in the meantime.

I have the Tamron 18-400mm VC I wonder if it will need an update.....

Thank you l upgraded 1&2.

yes, as a walk around lens when i don't want to drag a lot of lenses with me. I plan on using my Z7 (got held up in shipping on the east coast because of the storm) as my main camera except for shooting BIF, although I think the 18-400mm is for a full-frame sensor.

I only have 3 DX lenses (Nikon 10.5 Fisheye, Nikon 18-105 kit, and my lovely Sigma 18-35 F1.8), all of my others are FX

I have Tamron 18-400, it is a DX lens.

in that case, I have 4 DX lenses, and I plan on using it :)

Fantastic news! Can't wait to see what that G2 Tammy 150-600mm can do in the Z7! I wonder if it can be used with a teleconverter too? I need a new eagle cannon for the winter!!!

do you have a Z7? I just got my Z7, and I get an error message with the Tamron 18-400mm. My Sigma 18-35 F.18 works like a charm
