To my surprise I found out 10 years ago that Mr Rogers who died today had ties to this falls and the area, about 2 miles from where I live,50 miles east of Pittsburgh. Mr Rogers grandfather owned this falls and the area around it,it was his summer home where his grandson Fred would spend summer days as a child. Remnants of dwellings can still be seen near the falls.I took this photo last June the falls is now owned by the county and will be preserved.Fred's grandfathers name was "Mr McFeeley"

I am sad to hear Mr. Rogers died today. The photo you posted is incredible. I'm ready to go visit it this spring. It appears Mr. Rogers enjoyed a bit of heaven on earth whilest at the falls. Was Mr. Rogers grandfather really named Mr. McFeely? That sounds like a Saturday Night Live skit to me.
Sincerely,
Olycow

That's where he got the idea for the TV characters name.

You beautiful photo and it's accomanying story are a sweet memorial
to a kind and gentle man. I was lucky enough to work with members
of his staff a few years back while recreating a set of his puppets
after one of only two existing sets were stolen. Though I did not
get to meet the man personally, the members of his staff spoke very
highly of him and his genuine love of children.

yes artshot from what I've heard from many people around the Pittsburgh area he was as kind and gentle in person as on tv,nothing fake about good ol Fred !

thanks **** but you haven't been looking through my photosig portfolioId :-)
This photo appears two times (re-cropped)

I was thinking of submitting again as a tribute to Mr Rogers, this time with the story behind it....
Bill,
Where you been hiding this one? It's one of your very best;
outstanding! I'm sure Mr. Rogers' death jogged the memory of this
shot. It's a beautiful place and will probably get much more
attention now.
Regards,
****:)

Very nice, and nice background info. Before I came to the site here, I was listening to some Mr R songs on the official site. He led a good life I think. Wish there were more like him.

His belief in uplifting all the people around him is a quality lacking in so many. May he continue to touch hearts here, and in his new "Neighborhood."

Freds Rogers middle name is "McFeely" (spelling differs depending on website I've visited but I think this one's right) Some may have found it hard to believe that like I said below his grandfathers name was Mr McFeely, which inspired the tv character.....
