With my D850 I trigger SB-5000s using the WR-R10 radio transmitter. Will the Z7 directly trigger SB-5000s (using radio) or do I need to use the same external radio transmitter. If the latter, where does it plug in to the Z7?

Thanks for that. That's too bad -- on the D850 the transmitter attaches on the front of the body where it's less likely to get bumped. Having to have something sticking out the side seems like a pain. Nikon should just build this feature into the body itself."You can use the small WR-R10 base unit plugged into the left side of the camera and an SB-5000 as a wireless remote flash"With my D850 I trigger SB-5000s using the WR-R10 radio transmitter. Fully agree - don't understand why they can't build it into the body. This said, you don't need to use both parts like with the D850, so will not stick out that muchThanks for that. Because now they can charge $100 for a simple radio transmitter (I'd guess BOM being about $3 and manufacturing $1).Fully agree - don't understand why they can't build it into the body. That's terrible and short sighted. People will be more likely the new flash and add more if it was easier. My previous camera d800 can flash trigger my sb900 which was sufficient for most scenarios. They are making it harder to use, which in long term will likely to hurt their business.Because now they can charge $100 for a simple radio transmitter (I'd guess BOM being about $3 and manufacturing $1).Fully agree - don't understand why they can't build it into the body. You are right. Extract from Toms Book: “to use wireless remote flash from a Z6 or Z7 you either need a flash in the hot shoe that supports the old optical wireless Commander mode, or you need the WR-R10 and SB-5000 combination to perform radio wireless communication“Not true. The z cameras needs a WR-A10 wirelessly control flash like sb-5000.Yes. Read the short article of Moose: https://www.moosepeterson.com/blog/yes-z-does-flash/
