Show Your Snaps...August 27, 2018

Thanks!!!!!! It must have been nice to be out in the night looking at those stars!!!!
Moe like standing around being attacked by mosquitoes. The sky didn't visually look like that to me, the long exposures let the fainter stars appear in the camera. All I could see was a faint haze where the Milky Way was.

The sky looked more like what's seen in the top of this (the compression from uploading makes this look bad):

I remember a few times in the past being out in nature (camping, travelling) and being immersed in the Milky Way.. It's an experience you never forget. I live in the city or by the coast and the fog or lights ruin it. I don't know if I can get away to a place where I can just wonder at the stars.. :-(

Wow those are flocking cool! Very nice

Wow...that's amazing to see all of those stars. I only saw something like that in the Sierra Nevada mountains at a high elevation.

You are brave to battle the mosquitoes. That's when I try to find ways to avoid them.

Those are great looking back yarders. You had perfect lighting.

It looks impressive at 100% zoom. You did well at a relatively low shutter speed.

It looks like the exposure is just right. What story is there about the light and the faith?

I especially like the sandpipers. I saw many of them like that on an isolated beach once. Hundreds of them flew around me.

I really need a different setup to get longer exposures of the Orion Nebula, and learn how to post process the images.

And the obligatory shot of this morning's Moon, because it was near the Orion constellation and "because it was there".

Thanks. I posted a Moon picture from this morning at higher resolution for your viewing pleasure.

That area has several types of mosquitoes, some large enough you can feel them hit your hand as you swat them out of the air while they're buzzing near your ear.

Thanks, that was in suburban/rural light polluted skies, with the Moon still below the horizon. The tracking allowed long exposures that let a lot of dimmer stars be picked up by the sensor. I'd love to get out to a really dark sky and see more of the Milky Way in person instead of through long exposure images captured by a camera.
