Why?

People will check the price tag, the size, the weight, the manual focus, and they will go buy the Fuji 33mm 1.0 instead.

I think that this trend of offering a very capable, yet cheaper version of expensive full frame gear has boosted Fuji's camera business for years now. Price may be no object for working professionals but for the enthusiast crowd, price matters.

Instead of a $2000 Nikon Z6, buy a $1400 X-T3.

Instead of a $3200 D850, buy a $1800 X-H1.

Instead of a $4000 50mm 1.4 Summilux, buy a $500 XF 35mm 1.4.

The existence of comparable products that are priced much higher is good for the Fuji X system.

I'm not sure about that.

Nikon have stated that they've gone all out on lens quality for the Z mount, they're using the new, larger mount diameter to make optimum lens designs. The reviews from the testers of the new 24-70/4 zoom and 35/1.8 prime that I've seen seem very impressed with the image quality across the whole frame.

Nikon have been somewhat constrained by the F mount in the autofocus era and are now finally free of those constraints. I suspect the lenses will be a real highlight of the new Z mount system.

So instead of the $6000 Nikon Z 58mm 0.95 buy a $? Fujinon 33mm 1.0 instead?

The big question is What will be the price of the Fujinon 33mm 1.0, and also how big and heavy will it be? The Nikon Z 58mm 0.95 is a real monster!

Unknown, but a safe answer is: much smaller and much less costly than the Nikon Z.

Bonus: the Fuji will autofocus.

Fuji X hits a certain point for both price and quality, and hits it very well.

Nope, love Fuji but they have nothing that can replace the D850 at any price. Even the z7 cannot (final judgement pending on the AF reviews)

And instead of a steak buy a fast food burger. It's about the same as well, right?

While there is a resolution differential (and little else atm) for 99% of applications and users it is utterly immaterial.

Having said that and going along with your comment, the world eats far more burgers than steak, so your comment in fact supports the OP's thesis it seems

Do not expect to get much better photography from the Nikon combo versus the Fuji one if both are used correctly.

So, you believe the X-H1 is as good as the D850? How you come to such a conclusion? From which source do you know the price of the X-T3?

f/1 in Fuji is f/1.5 in Full frame
f/1.4 in Fuji is f/2.1 in Full frame

Many like me shoot wide open for subject separation not for light gathering (That also will be same because FF has good ISO performance).

I love Fuji and have no idea of changing system ever. But facts are fact. Fuji has APS-C

Not so simple, in terms of light 1.4 is 1.4, in terms of DoF 1.4 is 2 (one stop slower)

So effectively we get lots of light and more DoF that for most things is actually pretty good for fast lenses and less so for slower lenses. A reason why for me f/4 on Fuji are something I have no interest in while f/1.2 and below in FF is quite hard to use

I don't want to get in to that argument.

Simply I chose Fuji because it was cheap and had very good fast prime lenses (in the focal lengts i needed) i could afford.

Fuji was cheap for the similar full frame system specially with X-T20. If was to buy X-T2 still Fuji is cheaper considering it's amazing complete lens line up

Let me give an example

I have 2 X-T20 bodies and XF 23 1.4 and 56 f/1.2

If some one offered me a Full frame System which would cost same (It would never though)
with 35mm f/2 and 85mm f/1.8 I would love to buy that over Fuji. I don't even mind little more for 35mm f/1.4 in full frame. But with sonny my pricing was kind of double.

The problem with Full frame is expensive and heavy (When you try to exploit the DOF advantage of larger sensors by purchasing faster lenses). 23 f/1.4 (Fuji) and 35mm f/2.0 (Sony FE) weigh the same. But to exploit the advantage if you get 35mm f/1.4 its heavy and very long.

No prob. I have both systems and in a way I find them complementary if chosen wisely and due to my use.

In the end, most cameras will deliver or exceed expectations when properly used and when chosen wisely. We are well into mature tech by now.

In terms of light gathering of the lens, yes, but FF sensors have a 1-stop advantage in performance, so equivalence in actual use makes the 33/1.0 a 50/1.5 in FF terms.

That is what I wrote .... and to be honest I wonder if in real use it is not better for super fast lenses to have more dof with more light, At least for me it is till f/2.8 after that it depends on the situation and subject.

Yes I think Fuji's APS-C sensor and camera platform has that nice goldilocks balance of IQ and price and size.

In a few interviews with Fuji executives they have always welcomed Nikon and Canon moving to mirrorless as well. Their view is that it will give mirrorless more credibility as a serious camera platform and more photographers will look more closely at the mirrorless options.

Here is one such interview...

www.dpreview.com/interviews/2745997071/fujifilm-interview-we-will-work-hard-to-keep-our-uniqueness

"I’ve also been asked many times, ‘how do you feel about Canon and Nikon getting into mirrorless?’ My answer was always, ‘welcome.’ Because having those strong brands in the mirrorless marketplace increases general awareness of mirrorless, and that’s a good thing for the whole industry. And if the whole industry is growing, then we have a greater chance to grow as well. So yes, we will see more competition with Canon and Nikon as well as Sony, but we will work hard to keep our uniqueness in design and usability; [one big way] we differentiate is by our analog controls. And of course, we need to keep innovating inside our cameras as well, improving the sensor, processor, and also by introducing new lenses"
