I used the T3 a couple of nights ago and thought that the AF in the X-Pro3 would be a nice addition! In particular the eye AF, really sweet that one!I don't see the need for an XPro3. The Pro2 is quite capable.Any idea why Fuji is releasing the XT3 before the Xpro3? Any chance of discontinuing the line? (It would be a shame)
Yes, agreed. My ultimate camera would be the Xpro2 body, with Xh1 sized viewfinder, IBIS, and all the features of the xt3 (have owned the Xpro1, Xpro2, Xh1, and now the Xt3).I used the T3 a couple of nights ago and thought that the AF in the X-Pro3 would be a nice addition! A couple of other things on my wishlist e.g. larger EVF magnification, Chrome-Something film sumulation (the only one I think I might actually use!!???)

I'm a professional wedding photographer using solely X-Pros. They are wonderful wedding cameras but there are occasions when I would like a flip out screen. Doing wedding work means a wide variety of shots, not just the type you describe, and there are occasions when I need to hold the camera as high as possible whilst working quickly.Fuji makes flippy screen cameras for the people who think they need that. They even make one which only has a flippy screen and no viewfinder at all.
Perhaps they should make the screen on the next X-E3 a flip out screen. It's a fake viewfinder. But for folks who concentrate on the rear display I do not think that is much of a distinction.
I am curious about why anyone would want an actual rangefinder camera with a flip out screen? I gravitate towards this style because it results in a certain quality to my photos which I do not get with my DSLR cameras. It is hard to put your finger on. It's almost like all my shots are from three quarter perspective?
I would not be getting this result with a rear display, or if I monitored TTL using the EVF only.
It kind of seems that the style of using the camera with the rear display to achieve certain shots you cannot with the viewfinder is spoken to more by the XT-2 if you want one of the upper tier Fujis.
A rangefinder camera is about that style of shooting, not just getting the shot.
I don't accept this argument that flip out screens are a technological advancement that are some kind of requirement for a modern camera to be current. Plenty of pro/prosumer camera bodies have a fixed display. Even ones that came out in the last week!
Among the professional photogs and DP I know. Most of them use an on camera display for such types of work when it is required. Which is pretty much only for video. I do not know a single fashion or commercial photographer using those.
The only time I have ever found such a feature to be useful is when I am working on stop motion animation and do not want to have any physical contact with the camera.
But honestly, I am better off shooting tethered in such a scenario. The tiltable display was only of use for one type of unusual shot where tethering was difficult.
I cant expect Fuji (or Canon or Sony) to cater to street photographers that also do animation and product photography. So instead I own several cameras and lenses.
Maybe it's just me, but I'd prefer that Fuji not try and compete on me too features like flip out screens. But rather stick to emphasizing the unique attributes of it's sensor and lenses. Products that just tick off features are not very compelling.
Personally I'd prefer if they streamlined the Xpro-2 successor to have a few less knobs and buttons. I'm sure there are some folks that have extensive customization for all the controls. But I'm happy with just the standard exposure triangle and exposure comp controls.
They've only ever replaced the X-Pro onceThey release a new x-pro body every 2 generations (4 years)

I can just about see the screen as it is when holding the camera up high but it would be a lot easier if if was tiltable.
It baffles me why people are so against such a facility that can be so incredibly useful and yet one which you don't have to use if you don't want it.
There`s never been a time where you have appreciated something because it is of a minimal design instead of a swiss army knife style design? If appreciating minimal designs makes me a "stupid, pompous and bloody-minded idiot..." then I`m ok with that.I agree. It baffles me why people are so against such a facility that can be so incredibly useful and yet one which you don't have to use if you don't want it.
They are the most annoying of all the stupid, pompous and bloody-minded idiots out there.
No idea about that. I am not sure that the X-Pro2 sold that well. Personally I waited after rumors and chose the E3 over the Pro2.Any idea why Fuji is releasing the XT3 before the Xpro3? Any chance of discontinuing the line? (It would be a shame)
Face it - there is no reason to have a Pro2 if you don't want the OVF. I would not own a Fuji if not for the Pro2 OVF and if they drop the OVF, I will get rid of most of my Fuji and pick up an M10. Probably end up selling off my H1 and all the lenses also at some point. If you don't want the OVF - buy the X-E3.No idea about that. I am not sure that the X-Pro2 sold that well. I was looking at the timeline between release of X-T1 then X-T10, X-T2 then X-T20, X-T2 then X-T30?
time between 1-10 - 1.5 years
time between 2-20 - about 6 months
The reality seems to be we're in the rumor stage.
I admit I would like to have an M10. I bet I would like the user experience. Also I have two Zeiss ZM lenses I would like to use on it.Face it - there is no reason to have a Pro2 if you don't want the OVF. The Pro2 is a niche camera. There is no reason for Fuji to release a new model every 2 years. In another post someone mentioned that Sigma would consider X mount lenses if Fuji's market share was at least 20% and since they are not considering it then Fuji's market share is below 20% so at the end of the day Fuji across the board is not selling that well.
The beauty of the Leica viewfinder - I have an M4 - is that you see more than what will be captured. My Nikon took a back seat - except when I needed a long lens - after I got my M4. It allows you to fine compose on the fly because you see what is coming into the frame. It is a way of seeing that is unique to the Leica and the Pro2 OVF. I'm not going to give that up. In reality I would not give you two cents for an EVF. The EVF on my H1 is quite good for an EVF especially in the boost mode. But I find myself cussing it regularly. I don't want to view the world through a video screen - I want to view world around my selected scene with my own eyes.I admit I would like to have an M10. I bet I would like the user experience. However I love using them on my a7 and a7iii.
I used to prefer an optical VF, but now with higher resolution EVFs with magnification and illumination in dark I much prefer EVFs. Also I like to see what the sensor is "seeing."
For your sake I hope they continue the Pro line. It certainly seems unique among digital cameras with that hybrid viewfinder.

Here in NZ the A7R II is often being sold in larger numbers than other cameras on the used camera market. How do you feel about that camera compared to the X-Pro2?Didn’t think this thread would have so many interested Fujinonians when I started it. Hope Fuji is reading and sees how eager we are to have an Xpro3
A better OVF,EVF&ERF would be nice:
eyepoint more towards ~20mm
larger viewfinder
improved color fidelity, resolution and response
Focus check for the ERF as well
no more shutter lag when the EVF or ERF are zoomed in
Histogram&zebra based on RAW info
as a bonus image stabilization, slightly higher resolution & larger dynamic range
The X-Pro2 came 4 years after the X-Pro1... it is simply a camera that does not need to be updated as much. They wait for large improvements before updating these models. Also, it doesn`t sell as well as the X-T2, but I doubt that is surprising to Fuji or most people... it is a niche product, but an important one. There will be another X-Pro... but it will be a significant update... not an incremental one like the X-T2 to X-T3.No idea about that. I am not sure that the X-Pro2 sold that well. Personally I waited after rumors and chose the E3 over the Pro2.Any idea why Fuji is releasing the XT3 before the Xpro3? Any chance of discontinuing the line? (It would be a shame)
This does not mean they are not selling well at all... you don`t have to have a huge market share to do well as a company. In another post someone mentioned that Sigma would consider X mount lenses if Fuji's market share was at least 20% and since they are not considering it then Fuji's market share is below 20% so at the end of the day Fuji across the board is not selling that well.

In your opinion. You shouldn't confuse your own opinion with fact.Face it - there is no reason to have a Pro2 if you don't want the OVF.No idea about that.
