Not much we can do about it but I believe the Trump tariffs and trade war and retaliation from China will eventually have an impact on our camera equipment prices.

I believe the only thing we can do is get ahead of curve with purchases before it happens.

So what do you think?

I would assume that those States that want to implement collection of their State sales taxes would need to have some method in place for collection and enforcement. As of yet, I have not heard or read of any of them actually beginning to do that. Has anyone else?

Thanks for comment. Although talking about possibility of Tariffs not Taxes. Well, I guess we also need to be concerned about sales taxes.

I suppose that the Fed needs some time to implement a policy, as well. Of course, where more money to them is concerned, they seem to implement policies faster. Isn't there usually some sort of "grace period" for people to get organized and familiar with how they have to report, etc.? You know, where it may go into effect next January, or something? And, that would assume that the various Departments concerned have been ordered to put it in place, yet. In any event, getting ahead of the curve isn't bad advice. I mean, if you plan a purchase, anyway, you may as well buy early, I guess. Stuff sure isn't going to sell for less in the future, that's for sure. :-(

Possible tariffs will not affect my photography purchases, not sure how much Sony uses China or if they would be affected anyway.

I heard on the news last Thursday that consumer electronics made in China are in the second round of tariffs and would be at the rate of 10%. However, I do not know the effective date. Also, I do not know, for example, how this affects a lens made in China for Sony, a Japanese company.

.

I'm more concerned about how tariffs might affect the cost of my extra-virgin olive oil.

.
And my new car next year.
Yes, me too.
.

I spent less than $12,000 for my last three vehicles (van, car, truck) combined.

I love it when other people buy new cars. More options for me.

.
My last car was used. However, the features that I want on my next purchase can only be had with a new model so I don't have a choice if I want that car.

Well, you always have a choice. Vote with your $$

It's all negotiation. The most probable long term result will be lower tariffs across the board. In the short term, you may pay a few dollars more for Chinese glass.
