first shoot with my new X-T2

Just bought my first Fuji camera (first mirrorless at that) about a week ago and I am blown away! I am having so much fun with this thing. Coming from Canon DSLR, it's just too much fun to work with.

I'm still figuring it out and don't feel comfortable using it on an actual job yet, but I did take a few snaps with it on a shoot the other day. It almost reminds me of working with my Contax G2 film camera.



These were done with the X-T2 and 23mm f2 lens.

I like the images, but is it just me or are they all either soft or out of focus?

I'm totally happy if it's just me, might be the way my browser is formatting the images or something, they just don't seem as sharp as I'd have expected (though maybe the 23mm/2 lens just isn't that sharp?)

Or are these crops?

I only ask as I was surprised, and lately I've been following all too many threads with focus issues on Fuji cameras.

They're probably a little soft... being backlit, me not worrying too much about being tack sharp, plus not very well versed with the fuji focusing system yet.

Definitely don't judge the fuji sharpness off my work! I will make you think it's awful.

The 23 f2 is sooooft at f2. Definitely the reason for your soooooft looking images!

If you look for softness, your eyes will find it even when it's not there. My old eyes are tired right now but I just ran a high pass filter over this one - to show it is not soft.

Well I wasn't really looking that close, they just appeared out of focus to me. If "not looking closely" counts as being obsessed then... well, no answering that one really.
