halo,i see many people using NR in negative value, lets say NR -2 are you guys adding more noise reduction on editor/pp or just leave it?

depends on the image. The noise reduction setting really only applies to the JPG image. But some say Fuji actually applies NR to RAW files also.

In any event I'd rather do it in PP.

Depends on which camera you have. NR-2 on an X-Trans2 camera really didn't do much compared to NR-2 on the X-Trans3 cameras.

I have my T2 set to -4. E2 set to -2, lowest.

I don't want the Camera to do any NR. But from what I read with any Fuji camera it always does some NR no matter what you have it set to.

Basically NR only relates to JPGs. It´s a balance between noise/"grain" and sharpness and detail.

My prefs for XPR01+2 are: 200 iso to 6400 iso is -4.

Above 6400 -2 to 0 depending on dirty colours. ( dark brown/ greys etc.) I can always add more NR if needed in pp, getting rid of to much Nr - not possible.

So you make those changed in the NR settings depending on what ISO you are using?

That must take some time. I always try to use the lowest ISO I can. That is why I liked the T2 over other Fuji models. I can easily adjust the ISO at any time. I wouldn't want to stop and go into the menu system to increase or decrease the NR with every change to the ISO I might make.

ok then, but are you adding more NR on pp when needed?

Well, you can do it via the Q menu as well so its not all that time consuming. In my experience you don't need to change the NR with slight ISO changes.

Yes and no. Two settings in the Q Menu. C1 for 200 to 6400 iso and C2 for 6400 iso and higher. I´m shooting Raw most of the time and the sensors are almost noiseless these days.

OK lets try this again. The Camera has Noise Reduction settings.

A Plus NOISE REDUCTION in the camera means it is REDUCING NOISE. IE it is trying to limit, Take Out, noise in the image file.

A Negative NR setting, Minus Sign ( - ), in the camera means the camera is letting more noise into the image files. IE it is NOT taking out any of the noise that may be in the image files.

I have my Fuji camera set to the lowest, Negative, Minus Sign, NR allowed on the cameras

So I do Noise Reduction in Post Processing and I try to stop the camera from doing any noise reduction.

I think you have the meaning backwards. You are thinking of Plus Adding, or not taking out, Noise. And Minus, Negative, as Limiting the amount of Noise.

If that option said only NOISE, and not NOISE REDUCTION, then your meaning would be correct.
