Please select a "camera or camera system" for night landscapes with integrated night sky obects, primarily for still photography without consideration for autofocus and all that. Lenses are important but disregard your current equipment. Cost is important, but not paramount. You have the bucks!

Well from this list it's going to be between the Nikon and Canon IMO. The D810/850 will produce sharper images while the Canon will have better reds as Mark has shown.

I picked the Nikon D850 because it's what I use as a camera for everything. I do, however, know a few togs who have switched to Sony from both Nikon and Canon.

I am refraining from going mirrorless myself, at least just yet. I prefer to use the optical viewfinder to compose images, even at night. An EVF is only going to mess up one's night vision, but I do fear that OVFs are on their way out, so we will just have to use what is available.
