Sony FE 28-70 + a6000

Was on the lookout for a mid-range zoom-lens for my a6000 for a vacation. Checked all the native aps-c lenses and found none of interest or in my range of budget for this type of lens. Found this "little" guy on a site for used lenses for only 140$ and thought for myself; if I didn't like it, I already knew I could sell it for more.

I love the looks and feel of the lens and the rubber rings and silent AF. But it is quite big on my a600 but that doesn't bother me at all. The sturdier the more balanced. The quality of the pictures out of the camera are imo really good. I've read all over that people are dissatisfied with the quality but for me this works perfectly! It's obviously not on par with my 50mm f1,8 but that's figured. Some people talk about bad exempels of different lenses and maybe that's it that I just got one of the good ones.

But for the price I paid for it and for the focal lenghts it covers I love it. great quality, great build, and if you find one for a great price, Buy it!

FWIW this lens is very competitive in the focal range with the much more expensive 24-70 and is a super bargain for the price - if slightly long as general purpose lens for aps-c.

My next suggestion would be the 18-105 for a few hundred more if you can find it in the used market

I too have and love this lens on my A6000. It is my go-to lens when I am headed out and not sure what I am going to encounter.





























































































































































































































































I do wish it had a better F-Stop and smaller starting focal length, but I have other lenses that fulfill the need. I think I got mine for under $200, so no complaints here.

I've been tempted often by the 18-105mm, (and am currently tempted by the new 18-135mm). The thing that keeps me away from the 18-105mm is that I do not care for the auto zoom.

The focal range ist just not what I need for APS-C. The 18135 looks promissing.

I just bought a 28-70 off EBay, but not at as good a price as you got. The tests I've read indicate the 28-70, while not stellar, is a good lens close to on par with the much more expensive 24-70. The few shots I've taken with it so far has been good. And it is smaller than the 18-105 f/4 that I sold. The 18-105 was a very good lens, but I seldom used it due to its size (and I'm not into video).
