Spent the week between Christmas and New Years Eve at Big Bend National Park. Had some gorgeous days with nice weather, and some hot days, right before the arctic front blew in. Welcome to Winters in Texas.

Shot with my A99II and Sigma 24-105 F4 lens. Stitched together with Autopano.

This cutely old-fashioned view I shot on the 10th of december on an estate nearby.
Alas, for the rest of the month we got nothing but rain, and cold winds...
Nevertheless, we had wonderful Holidays with our children and grandchildren, right at home and in town.

So here’s my new year’s wish to all of us here: Have a Healthy And Inspiring 2018!
Accept what’s inevitable, but don’t hold back in realising your dreams!

Happy New Year everyone. Thanks for checking.

Person is taking photos, not camera. When photograph is bad, it's because photographer doesn't know how to choose settings optimal to "own preferences". Then blames camera for bad IQ.
This is same as blaming car about arriving to wrong destination.

I give you the 2018 SuperMoon :)

I read on another forum that members were using the Minolta 500mm AF Reflex as a walk around lens. I was a bit sceptical, but tried it, and am pleasantly surprised as to the quality, of this hand held shot.

As a composition it's rubbish, but I just wanted to try the lens.

Just amazing shots Martin ... thanks heaps for sharing and inspiring!

May I ask / confirm ... the -0.7 Ev is to make sure you don't blow out the whites I think?

I have the 77 m2 ... now to save the shekels for the 500 F4 :-)

A few from late December as I'm travelling in Western Australia at the moment and have only just reached 'civilization' in Perth. :-)

I would highly recommend the Southern Beaches around Albany and Esperance ... hope the pics below do it justice!

Hellfire Beach Cape Le Grand ... about 65 kms East of Esperance ... most beautiful beach I've seen!

Further round Hellfire Beach ... rock fishing is popular but dangerous ... colour is very much as seen by eye!

Yes Australian's are indeed as capable of being stupid as anyone else! (Bloody dangerous pastime!)

So I grabbed a moon shot while using a new monopod. Now it would be handy to have a longer focal length.

Thanks Richard....it was a sunny day so reducing the EV's was essential to avoid blown highlights. The 500mm f4 is worth every shekel and works wonderfully with the Sony a99m2 as well.

Lovely shots Richard...lucky you. While the northern hemisphere is experiencing diabolical freezing/snow, you wisely chose to fly south!

I haven't done much photography since August. The little cutie here has given me nasty URI's for 3 1/2 months out of the last 5. Hoping 2018 is a healthier year for the both of us :)
