hello everyone, here to ask your opinion about canon cameras. I am upgrading my camera and looking between the canon 5d mark 2/3 and 6d mark 2.

what do you reckon to be better between these two and why?

i have a crop frame one for now and really need to have a camera with
  • full frame, with a great sensor that can allow me to print keeping an amazing quality,
(I have recently used the 6d mark 1 and by my own surprise noticed that the files created by the camera where not that bigger than my canon eos 550d )
  • capable to shoot with very low light
  • a reasonable light body
  • a wi fi facilities.
I have used the canon 5d mark 2, great quality but it s a bit out of market and very heavy and no wi fi connection facilities.

hope to get some illuminations from you, thanks all

This question is getting asked a bit too often now.

There is NO objective answer to say either the 5D III or 6D II is better. It depends on your own needs.

I say, if you're a casual hobbyist, get the 6D Mark II. It's cheap as hell right now compared to the 5D Mark III. It's low light AF is better, it's video AF is easier to use than the 5D III.

The 5D Mark III has a wider AF coverage, it's got two card slots, which is great for anyone getting paid for their work. It can shoot 3.5K (4K?) Raw video with magic lantern, but there's no tilt screen and video AF makes it hard to use as a vlogging camera, if that's part of your intent.

ISO performance and DR are honestly a non-issue between the two IMO. The difference is so slight that it's more about the photo you take than which body you do it with.

Shouldn't surprise. File size is related to the number of pixels (20mp v. 18mp), not the sensor size or pixel pitch.

Right! And the high frequency detail and noise in the image (messes up the compression). A 6D would have less noise at the same ISO, so the compression is more effective.

I think the 6D2 is better than the 5D3 EXCEPT if you need dual card slots or you don't like the close focus points of the 6D2 but even then the Live View focus is way better on the 6D2

Also the max shutter speed, which is sometimes important, and flash sync, which between 1/180 and 1/200 really isn't that important.

Also build quality of 5D3 may be better if that is critical but supposedly the 6D2 has pretty good weather sealing.

Well sorry to ask a popular question! this forum is soo big that to find answers is a mission

anyway i am a professional photographer, with this I mean that i get paid for my work but I am also an artist, so I do works of any kind, from abstract to music events where I shoot a lot with low light.

i need a camera that can perform both but i don't really understand why a 5D-3 is considered pro and the 6D-2 is semi-pro.

I want to upgrade to Pro camera as i already used a semi pro ( eos 550d crop frame) and this is where I got confused as both cameras I have mentioned are full frame and the sensor is quite similar, so I am here asking

any tips is very appreciate

hi and thanks for your reply

so far never been in need to use two cards slots and never got into a situation where the slot got corrupted but surely it can happen. is this the only reason why you retain the two slots function important?

in which other ways the 6d-2 is better for you?

bottom line for me,what really matter is the performance of the camera, the quality of the depth of filed, and the why the camera registers and converts the light into pixels/electrons.

by saying that, can I ask you what do you think about mirrorless such as the Sony alpha 7 mark 2? I know this is not the appropriate place to raise this question so feel free to don't answer

thanks
