FYI

I couldn't connect the D850 to the latest LR classic, just have to wait a while for LR to upgrade.

Also tried Nikon Camera Control Pro - that failed as well.

But I got my Camranger to work, yippee. With the large RAWs takes around 7-8s to ingest to a MBP. The JJPEGs are almost instantaneous. So at least I can now transfer RAW files to laptop then using auto import (the selected folder) inject them into LR. It's a bit of a workaround for the time being but it works.

My two cents

As usual, you just need to update your Nikon software to have it support new cameras.

Run the app (no camera connection required), then select Check for updates on the Help menu.

I just checked mine and the update page mentions added D850 support.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your reply.

I used the Nikon message center 2 to update my Camera Control Pro 2.

Am using MacBook 10.12.6 sierra, and CCP2 vs 2.26 (that is the latest version after downloading from the Nikon site).

After rebooting everything and disconnecting and reconnecting the camera it works! That's great. Thanks

I am only interested in the JPEG preview (also in high quality) for "wireless tethering" ;) or preview for clients on the iPad.

So you had a good experience speedwise with JPEGs ?
Can you recommend it for my workflow described above ? Or did you only transfer it to a laptop ?

Thanks in advance

Hi

Will I shot in RAW and Camranger send the JPEGs previews to my laptop almost instanteous. I didn't try sending the large JPEGs to my laptop.

I can't remember now my exact workflow, but I remember after shortlisting the previews with the client, after the selection was made, I then injested the RAWs when I had more time. Then used those to do the edits.
