I'm trying to decide between getting the Black or Silver X100F. Both look really good. I had originally decided to get the silver. But now, I'm thinking the Black might be a little more stealthy. Not Sure. So I've decided to see what color everyone else got and why? All opinions are greatly appreciated!

I have a black XE-2 and chose it because it's much easier to see the markings on the shutter speed and exposure dials.

Same reason here with the X-T2.

I had this same question hold me up for like two days when I was finally able to order my X100T. I bought silver because I thought the camera looked more elegant and better proportioned with the lens a different color than the body behind it . I am certainly not disappointed. It's a very pretty camera either way.

All my other cameras are black except my X-M1, which I bought secondhand and therefore took what I could get.

What color is your X-T2? Get a matching pair

I went for the silver as I did with the original X100.

Stealth wise, the silver doesn't intrude on people much I've found as they usually think it's an older film camera with it's dated rangefinder looks. A good advantage when you think about it.

Regards.

Yes, went to meet up with some old friends in Stratford (of Shakespeare fame) this summer. Pulled out my X100 and my friend immediately said "ah you've got an old film camera!" I said "Nah, it's a fake one"...not quite sure be believed me :-)

You gave a great reply to your friend.

Very true. :-) :-)

I travelled with the X-E1 & E2 plus the Pen-F in silver and found that in particular after dark you are being noticed far more than with a black body.

Not so much for being stealthy, but also in order not to be recognised as a camera holder a such.

During the day it is bugger all though what colour you have imo.

Silver for it's sexy

Four black bodies XP1, XE1, XT1, XT2 and one silver XT20 (because I could only get silver). The black bodies are less noticeable assuming smallish lenses also black 18-55 & primes are used. Also as others have said, it is easier to read the dials.

If you want it to look more retro, get the silver. If you want it to look more stealthy, get the black. :-)

If the dilemma is what color to get I think from my own experience this is $1300 ya don't need to spend for a fancy p&s camera and i own the X100F, but for different reason and use.

Purely subjective, get the color you like.

I owned a silver X100T, sold it, then about six months later decided I wanted to have one again, and bought a black one. I have to be honest, both X100Ts were used and my decision was based purely on what was available on the used market at the time and how good a deal I could get; I didn't even consider the color in either case. But the experience between the two was different.

I soon discovered that the silver X100T could, at times become a people magnet. Total strangers would not the X100T and come up to ask if I was using an old film. At times, if I was trying to blend in unnoticed or trying to get a particular, this attention could be an annoyance. But at other times, the question let to a pleasant conversation. that normally I would never have the nerve to initiate, and could lead to getting a casual portrait.

With the black X100T, I was back to being a fly on the wall at most events or travel locations, unless I was the only person with a camera. But even then, while lots of people noticed me and the camera, nobody was interested enough to as about it.

flip a coin!

So BLACK is in the lead as I write this...I don't know, substance over style...c'mon guys, the original X100 was only silver/black when it came out. Fuji knew what they were doing :-)

Followed by a more expensive all black Limited Edition X100.

Exactly - a "limited" edition :-)

But seriously, I had a black X100F on trial for a few days, and against my old silver X100, it just didn't look right to me...just another black camera (I don't mean to criticise anyone's choice...not right or wrong, just a preference). It'll be interesting to see which way the OP goes on this.
