Hi All,

I have loaded my D600 with the new firmware C1.03 and my Sigma 24-70/2.8 IF EX DG HSM autofocus stopped working. I was able to revert back to firmware C1.02 and the Sigma focus is working again. Anyone having similar problems?

That's why I don't upgrade my camera's firmware, it always takes away something you took for granted. Like AF on third party lenses.

I always read what the firmware is suppose to do and in most cases it adds nothing to my photography, just fluff usually. It can disrupt the cameras operation and is not worth it for fluff. I do update if its something that benefits me.

I keep a backup of previous firmwares for this reason, although I've thankfully never needed to downgrade so far. Downgrading is possible, so long as the L firmware compatibility corresponds with the C firmware.

Sigma issues experienced here too...

Sigma may well update its lens firmware, after they have had time to reverse-engineer a solution. Contact Sigma's customer service.

How can keep backup? You mean you keep the latest firmware and if there is problem you come back on it?

That firmware update for your D600 is mainly to update focus compatibility with Nikon's AF-P lenses. You can be almost guaranteed that a third party lens will need firmware update to communicate with a body that has just been updated with new proprietary focus algorithms. Nikon did that update to assure its own bodies will communicate with a new series of lenses while maintaining AF compatibility with existing Nikon lenses. They have no concern that it also communicate accurately with future or existing lenses from Sigma.

Sigma will eventually need to see your lens to do a firmware update. They are usually pretty quick in engineering a workaround to regain AF. My Sigma 85 non Art has been to Ronkonkoma, NY three times for updates.

Yes, I store a copy of the firmware update I download from Nikon's website on my computer. If I have an issue with a new firmware, I can simply load the older one back on the memory card, and "update" the older version again. Luckily this hasn't been necessary for me yet.

Thank you. I was afraid can't pass the older.

Went to Sigma Benelux in Houten, The Netherlands today and had the Sigma firmware updated. The AF is now working with the latest D600 firmware (C1.03). The update took several minutes and I was not charged for it.

Hi, Martin. I've experienced the same problems with my Sigma HSM lenses no longer working after I upgraded the Firmware on both my D600 and D750 bodies to the latest versions. Right now, the D750 is working again with my lenses, but the D600 is not. I've been searching for the older versions of the firmware online without success. Would you be able to post the older version somewhere that I could obtain a copy of it to downgrade my D600?

I have the feeling that people don't READ the firmware update notices like they're supposed to and have this loose mindset that the update will give some nebulous benefit not included in the notes.

Normally the issue with updates is, what do I want to fix or are there more features on offer? If this doesn't apply, why fiddle.

However, Nikon have in the past implemented fixes quietly that didn't make the release notes. I've had it twice (be it since the D2x days) where something was fixed and Nikon made no mention of it in the release notes.

It is wise to download and keep older firmware versions (all types) in the event one needs to downgrade. I upgrade even if the release notes show nothing of interest, because I've been surprised before.

It's what they don't tell you is in the firmware update that is the problem. Like "and, BTW, this firmware update will disable most of your Sigma lenses' AF." They don't tell you that.

So, they do give you undocumented 'features' after all ;)

Yup, same problem with me, after the upgrade, my Sigma 150mm-500mm not autofocus as well.., how to solve this problem??
Contact Sigma and ask whether they can update the lens firmware

...or revert back to the older firmware, which is an instant fix.
Not exactly a fix since one does not get the improvements to the camera.

But certainly faster and less hassle. O/P find the previous version here .
