After a fantastic holiday in Mexico where my brother got married,,I though I'd post some of my images.

It's fair to say...across all systems...I've not seen an awful lot better than some of these (though I suppose some will investigate at pixel level and find fault), not to blow my own trumpet though - good nature images come in part from knowing your subject - the equipment you use & knowing how to use it...

My gear didn't let me down...and that's after it escaped from my shoulder bag & fell down 4 steps of solid Mayan ruins (that's another story for another time)...

All in all I can honestly say Fuji jpegs rock (raw great too of course) and I sincerely hope Fuji doesn't abandon x-trans on apsc anytime soon...

Will post some other wildlife soon to and more on my Mayan ruins mishap!!

LOL, did the bird sign a model release?

I have to say, the fine feather detail does resolve very well (and that's what matters with this subject). I don't shoot this subject much any more, but that's the main reason for still having a telephoto zoom with the FF kit. Hmmmm.

Nice photos. I particularly like the Green Heron. The others that are from on their level have a better perspective, sure, but still. . .

Oh. . . ouch!

Great shots, Dave, excellent detail. Well done.

Nice, are these really OOC jpgs, not raw and in-camera conversion?

If so, can you ellaborate a little on the sharpness/nr setting you used and the profile?

Many thanks for the images, 100-400 next on my list after this!!

No1, 1/100 sec, 400mm, wow!

Bob - Jerry...thanks both...the gorgeous Mexican light helped!!

Fuji does have that "something" though...I do remember your shots Jerry of the Condor & Ibis - it was at that point that I was trying to decide what to buy - and your shots Jerry was a big help in deciding!!

Awesome! One request though... if you have a spouse who closely watches your expenditures, please DON'T mention my name. I get in enough trouble on my own with my periodic photography related purchases. :-)

I hope you get half the enjoyment I've been getting from that lens. For the first few months I owned it, it literally did not come off the camera. The X-T2 coupled with that lens is an ideal combo for bird and nature photography IMHO and was perfect for my recent trip to South Africa.

Advent1sam + others who'd like to know...

Yes...jpegs - no pp,,just set from in camera setting which are as follows »»»

STD film simulation.

Auto WB.

DR 100

IQ fine

Colour 0

H Tone 0

S Tone +1

NR -1

Sharp +3

ISO 400

That's it pretty much...focusing was generally small or smallest focus point for birds in foliage,,sometimes single & sometimes continuous...

Bif or birds in the open I used zone mostly + continuous...

Finally...continuous shooting set at CH Low (3fps)...It's all I ever need...

Wow, that looks a great utility! For af-c it has numbers, it's auto on the pro the tracking, any idea what they refer to?
AF-C numbers 1-5 are the five AF Presets. AF-C custom settings is C.

Hopefully 1-2 more weeks. Working on a couple bugs my testers found and updating documentation... and my day job eats away at my coding time! :-D
