Hi folks. First time posting here but I've been reading these forums for years and find the technical info a great help and the photography a real inspiration. I've had a major problem with my LA-EA4. I was changing lenses and set the adapter down for two seconds - just long enough for my 18 month old to pick it up with greasy fingers. Tried cleaning the mirror but it was ruined so I ordered the replacement part. Does anyone have a link to a hi-res version of the below diagram? I'm gonna have a crack at replacing it myself but I can't make out the text and I can't find the actual service manual on line.

I had to have mine replaced because Precision had touched it with something that caused a tiny pinprick melt on the mirror. It was the weirdest thing. I can't even remember why I had sent it to them. Anyway, it was resolved and Sony sent me a new one.
Might have been a bit of solder spatter from something else they were working on nearby.

Brilliant stuff, many thanks! It looks straightforward enough. Hopefully I can free up some time this week, I'll have a crack at it and let you know how I get on.

I've done this once. The main thing to be careful of when reassembling is there are two sort of springs that hold the mirror in position. You might need to bend these out slightly.

Hey folks! Just thought I'd let you know I finally got around to fixing my LA-EA4. It was a very straightforward job in the end. 4 screws for the mount, 3 for the mirror box and one holding in a little bit of the brain. Pop the mirror out and pop the new one in - 10 minutes and it was all done.

This is just a low-res upload of a snap I took tonight, transferred to the PlayMemories app on an iPhone 7 Plus and processed in the snapseed app. You can see the tell tale red ring, one of the lens' characteristics when shooting directly into the sun. I know with this output quality I could've just used the phone but I just wanted to thank you folks for the help and share an image while I'm at it.
