Weird.

Using the rear LCD as an AF targeting pad whilst looking through the evf only seems to work with the camera held in landscape orientation, not in portrait orientation.

Can anyone else confirm this please?

I'm using the camera without vertical grip.

Glad I didn't upgrade to v1.2. I was actually going to this weekend. But if I'm to choose between poor color reproduction in EVF and limited Targeting Pad, I'd rather still stay with crappy EVF.

There is a problem in portrait mode with this feature. If you are used to hold your camera with the LCD on the left of the EVF and use the right eye to view through the EVF, your nose is frequently changing the AF target at unexpected time.

I suspect it is the reason of this changement.

Do people do that?

It's like burning the house down because of one mice in the kitchen.

If you learn to set the AF point with your nose it would leave both hands free to set other settings.
