I've never really shot much wildlife in the past. I purchased the X-T2 and 100-400mm eight months ago to shoot sports (baseball and football). However, yesterday I thought I would give it a try and headed off to a local wetland to see what I could find. Upon arriving, I was surprised to see a Great Egret in the water. Though I have to be honest, I didn't know this is a Great Egret until I arrived home and looked it up on Google...LOL. I spent an hour shooting photos and video of the egret hunting fish. The egret never left the water the entire hour. I was very surprised at the success of the egret hunting fish. I would say the egret was successful at catching a fish on 50% of it's attempts. Anyway, below are eight photos I captured along with the links to the remaining photo album and to a video with clips of the egret hunting fish. I had a great time and I just might start shooting some wildlife in the future!

Very nicely done. Warning: wildlife photography can be highly addictive (I speak with some experience here). Great images. Excellent color and composition.

Agreed.. great sharpness, color and isolation. U all are getting me thinking about this lens again.

Hi, great images, great clarity and some great action. At 50% success rate his 'keeper' rate is far better than mine as a photographer!

Thanks for posting.

Think hard. That lens spends more time on my camera than any other by far. Sharpness, detail, color, and overall IQ is simply superb.

The video is particularly sharp. Was it shot at 400mm most of the time ? What settings did you use ?
