Anybody here (besides me) going?

It's at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds from 9 to 3.

Well, I went...

Didn't find anything I was looking for, but did pick up a few things anyway.

If I'd had more of a budget, I might have picked up the rather nice 1220/11 mirror lens someone had there for, IIRC, $275. He also had a solid cadiotropic 800mm, and a nice Nikon 500/8 mirror as well. Since I was on a budget, though, I settled for a Celestron 300/5.6 for $30. Don't need it, will try to use it at least once, but it is cute.

Also picked up a Sigma 135/2.8 Telemax in MC mount. A bit low contrast, but seems to be quite sharp and can't see any CA in it either. Anyway, it was $1, so...

I also got a Voigtlander Bessamatic, with a Color Skopar X 50/2.8 (Deckel mount), and (doesn't really belong here, because I have no intention of adapting it), an excellent condition Konica IIIA (50/1.8 Hexanon fixed lens).

Another lens I would have liked to pick up, but didn't really have the budget for, was a CZJ Olympic (180/2.8) in Nikon mount. He was originally asking $120 for that, but would probably have gone quite a bit lower after noticing it had a bit of separation.

Looks like that was a good price for a 300/5.6 mirror lens - score. That's better than I did this weekend -- my local swap meet was rained out (and by rained out I mean it was a little foggy/misty in the morning such that the good vendors were too afraid to show up, ha)!

I got a Quantaray 300/5.6 mirror lens that is better than I expected; let us know how your "Celestron" shoots.

What brand is this one?

Glad you did not buy it as none of the two solid cats are of very good image quality. They are not very sharp and have a yellowish color cast.

If it is the new version with an orange band, this is the 500mm f/8 mirror lens to go. Otherwise, the older version is not good.

I am interested in this one, and I could take it over if you don't want it. Except for the Tamron 350mm f/5.6, none of my 300mm f/5.6 performed well (e.g., Spiratone, Makinon, etc). Not sure if the Spiratone is also the Quantaray, but they look similar.

I guess the original was a M42 mount and converted to Nikon. Many people did it that way because converting M42 to Nikon is relatively easy. The glory day of this lens has gone for so many years. It has a very strong purple-ish color cast with strong purple fringing. Closing down to about 4 or 5.6, it performed very respectfully for an old lens. Nowadays, I would just use a Nikon 180mm f/2.8 ED instead.

The 1220 had no indication whatsoever of manufacturer - either on the lens or on its case.... pretty much no markings at all other than focal length and aperture. It was quite nicely built, though. About the only identifying features were that it is natively T-mount, and that it focuses with a knob in the center of the front the of unit.

I'll post a couple of photos of and with the Celestron in the next day or two.
