D750

Why are these sales going on? It is an annual thing?
It often is, but it may also be that Nikon wants to clear out stock before announcing the D750's replacement.

.
Price of D750 looks really enticing.
Yep, especially since B&H and Adorama are including so many extras for the same price as they're selling just the body. Even NikonUSA is including a free MB-D16 battery grip with their sale priced D750 body. That's what makes me think that the D750 may soon be replaced and if so (and if the MB-D16 won't fit on a D760 or whatever), then it won't find any new buyers and it will just clog inventory. At least the MB-D16 would have value as a purchasing incentive for anyone considering purchasing a new D750.
The MBD wouldn't clog inventory if Nikon didn't charge their usual outrageous $300. It makes me feel like buying an HDMI cable at Best Buy.

SM
Because Nikon is crumbling and strapped for cash. They need to sell off these old, outdated cameras that no one wants to show a profit on next quarter's financials otherwise their investors are going to be mad.
I prefer to shoot D750 over the Sony mirrorless when the results are important. Have shot both a lot. Watching Sony like a hawk for improvements.

So buy your HDMI cables at Best Buy. Most Nikon owners (and owners of other brand cameras) quickly learn that parts and accessories for their cameras are almost universally priced outrageously high. But they work and they work well.

Example, B&H sells a very nice, fairly expensive Watson Duo Charger. I does a good job charging manufacturer's batteries, but if you don't monitor it carefully, it tends to kill the cheaper Watson and may other bargain basement batteries.

Similarly, Nikon's battery grips are expensive but they also work well. Go to NikonUSA and you'll see that Nikon's current price for the MB-D16 is $485, close to its introductory price. I paid a lot for Nikon's MB-D10 grip for the D300. It was reliable and never caused any problems. Not so for the people that bought the much less expensive Vello, Targus or Chinese knockoffs from eBay.

There's nothing wrong with buying from Best Buy though, IF they stock what you want to buy. I got lucky several years ago when Best Buy had a blowout sale on a new Nikon D7000 + 18-140mm Nikkor kit for $629. I only found out about it just before they ran out. From BestBuy:
Order Date: 01/25/2015

Nikon - D7000 DSLR Camera with 18-140mm VR Lens - Black

Model: 13310

SKU: 2071002

Picking up in store

Pickup: Today, Sun., Jan 25

We'll hold until: Mon., Feb 2
I don't recall ever seeing Nikon's battery grips, teleconverters or other esoteric gear like Nikon's clear glass filters there. Way too expensive for Best Buy. If that's what you want you go to real camera stores like B&H, Adorama, Cameta, etc.

I have read posts of other's experiences and they asked B&H for the current pricing. Some were successful, others asked for a credit towards an additional purchase & this worked.

They can not say yes unless you ask. :)

I don't see that deal. This is what I see:

... nice if someone tried to buy a D750 from NikonUSA and let us know whether the battery grip is actually in stock.

Hi,

You have to select an option
According to B&H (I just got off the phone with them), Nikon also doesn't have any D750 battery grips in stock. I wasn't given any convincing reasons for this so as far as I'm concerned the jury is still out. But it could be that NikonUSA's website plays Adorama's website game gwhere the battery grip would appear to be in stock, showing up in the shopping cart and only after trying to complete the purchase would a notice pop up saying that "the battery grip is currently unavailable". At least B&H lets us know in advance that the grip is currently not in stock.

That's REALLY interesting. I was quite literally on that NikonUSA link just Sunday morning(?), and the grip was definitely a purchase option.
