I currently have a sony a7rII and a metabone iv. I am wondering if sigma / tamron 150-600 mm autofocus will work at 600mm? I read some articles saying it doesn't work above 250mm or it requires manual focus

How about mc-11 or la-ea4. Thank you.

When I tried the Tamron 150-600 Mk2 on a Cheap Viltrox III, it worked well up to about 400mm. It seemed to struggle beyond that, but that may have been due to the lighting and nearness of subjects in the store. I have not tried it outside in daylight.

I would expect a Metabones to do better.

Thanks all. It seems mc-11 works well with sigma 150-600 c. But some users reported af-c issue at 600mm.

Metabone Iv works very well with canon lenses.

I will buy sigma 16-300 and try it on my mbiv. If it has problem, I will get mc-11

I had the Tamron 150-600mm (v1) with MC-11 and Metabones. It was sent to Tamron and had the latest firmware but even then AF was not good on the long end. I sold it. Once I tested the A mount briefly with LAEA3 and it was pretty snappy.

Sigma 150-600 c and 16-300 is pretty much different likes lenses.

But I can confirm that Sigma 150-600 works well with MC-11 adapter, but Tamron 150-600 mk1had AF problems (at longer end >400mm) with both Sigma MC-11 and ViltroxIII adapters. That's with A7RII.

I have a A7R2 and Sigma 150-600 C. Initially I sed the Fotodiox adaptor and it worked reasonably well at 600 i have acquired the Sigma MC-11 adaptor and it shows better performance

Have an A7RII and Tamron 150-600mm G1. I use the LA-EA3, and it works fine, just rather slowly. It seems to accurately hit its mark when focusing though, unlike some other non-adapted lenses I've used in the past.

I meant 150-600, i don't know where the 16-300 came from.

Just want to confirm that the 150-600 you own is

Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Sigma SA

not

Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Canon EF
Almost surely not unless he owns two different MC-11s, one in each mount.

In general there isn't going to be a difference between EF and SA as far as MC-11 goes - in fact SA-mount lenses tend to lag in support because Sigma wasn't updating them with cine/mirrorless firmware updates as Sigma has no SA-mount mirrorless/cine bodies (but Canon has EF-mount cine/mirrorless/mirrored DPAF bodies).
