.mac users are reporting on various mac sites that they have received an announcement from Apple that these downloads will be available tomorrow. Also, reports that iLife is shipping.

Personally, I'll probably wait until my local CompUSA has iLife, as I just downgraded from DSL to 56k (to save about $45 per month).

I ordered iLife a while back and recv'd a notice today that it had been assigned to a shipper, so these rumors might be accurate.

I thought that iPhoto 2 was supposed to be a free download? From the Apple site, it is part of a larger $$$ package? Please advise.

You are correct. iTunes 3 (already available), iMovie 3, and iPhoto 2 will be available as free downloads. iDVD3 will only be available with the iLife package.

iLife is the full package with iPhoto, iTunes, iMove and iDVD. If you don't use iDVD you don't need to buy iLife since it's iDVD that cost mony (but you get the rest on the same CD to save download time).

Free downloads will be of iTunes, iMove and iPhoto.

Anyone know when iPhoto 2 will be available for download. MacMinute says nothing about it. Oh well, I am a patient man--sort of.

George Richardson,

By definition, Mac people are patient (for the most part), but I've stopped visiting the Kodak SLR forum, at least until there's some movement in the 14n.

I should have just bought the S2. Now I've got to wait to see what PMA brings.

Tell me about it!. I was in the process of downloading iMovie 3 and iPhoto 2 (into it 2 hrs) and decided to go down to CompUSA to see if iLife was in. It was, otherwise I would still be downloading 10 hrs later.

BTW. Just double click on a .dmg file. It will create a disk icon. Double click on that and it will open as a folder with applications, read me files etc.
