Hello everyone,

I want to do a very long time lapse. About 1 shot every 30 minutes / 1 hour for 2 weeks or so.

I believe that to set the camera like this, I need to download the app from the store. Does it allow for such a long time lapse? If not, are there other alternatives?

Regarding battery life, I have a set of spare batteries so I could change the battery every day if required but I am not sure it would last that long. What cheap alternatives are there to connect it to the mains?

Thanks!

The app's maximum interval time is 60 seconds between shots.

Furthermore, it can take up to 990 photos.

I guess you'd need an external intervalometer, like this:

Any suggestions for the battery life?

You will need an external AC adapter with a dummy battery [to keep the multiconnector port available for the intervalometer] -- Sony makes an 'official' version. Cheaper versions are available on ebay [if you trust your $1200 camera to a power supply from a maker you never heard of].

But even with AC for the camera, the batteries in the intervalometer itself will run out way before your 2 weeks -- requiring carefully timed battery changes to keep the existing interval spacing.

In reality, you would do better with a device designed for the task.

Google for "dedicated time lapse camera". You will find devices for less than $250 that will run for days on battery only and don't require an external timer trigger.
