My primary camera these days is the Sony a99II. I've always been aware that Minolta launched Sony's A-mount but I did some research recently to confirm that not only can my mostly modern Zeiss 135 f1.8 & Sony 35mm f1.4 lenses fit on the Minolta 9000 (and other Minolta cameras), but the Minolta can actually autofocus them!!!

Suffice it to say I picked up a Minolta Maxxum 9000 and had a blast shooting with those lenses and a manual focus Laowa 12mm.

I was saddened when I realized my B&W film got jammed in the camera so I lost my street photo shots. But the color Ektar 100 film looked great. That Zeiss 135 f1.8 lens even looks sharp on film!!! Other than the B&W film mishap, this was a LOT of fun. I'll be shooting a lot more with my new-to-me Minolta in the future.

The Maxxum 7 and newer bodies can AF all the Sony lenses even the DT SAM ones and third-party lenses with motors. I like the 85mm F2.8 SAM on my Maxxum 70.

I need to finish up my first roll of Ektar 100. It looks good!

Yes, I have already seen your youtube videos. I have a subscription from your website and other photogs. I usually get new videos in a package, along with War Leaks. I like your videos, especially your use of the bike mounted videos. You have a very good narration delivery in your videos. I liked the punch from your film shots. I haven't been back to Chicago since 1976, so it's interesting seeing the changes from a bike-level perspective.

I miss my Minolta film cameras, like the Maxxum 7 & 9. Access to a local developer and the costs were prohibitive, so I went digital. I still have an immaculate, working Maxxum 7D. I like the jpegs out of the Maxxum 7D best of all my Sony digital cameras.

Considering the crime explosion in Chicago, I wonder If you worry about getting mugged, while bike riding with all your expensive equipment. You must have good photo insurance. I was mugged a few times at gun point when I worked and lived in Chicago, but not in the neighborhood. Of course, when I lived in Chicago back in the original Mayor Daley days, it was a lot safer. I could walk at night safely anywhere in my neighborhoods. Craigin and neighborhoods to the North were safe places. The police and the Outfit kept it safe. Burglaries were unheard of. Having a loaded gun at home was the rule. Now, you can't go back. I like guns as much as I do cameras.

Keep up making great videos.

That's I correct I bought a Minolta Maxxum 7 for my self-gift birthday and I love it. I even found the battery grip, angle finder, and original Maxxum wide strap with the eyepiece cover accessory, everything for less than 140$, the grip was even with box, and manuals like new, and the angle finder too.

It is an amazing body tons of features and I'm sure that can beat Nikon's F6, anytime. Tons of features, too, and it can autofocus with my Tamron 70-200, and 85 USD's

Thanks for checking it out and subscribing! Great to hear you enjoyed!!

I've lived in downtown Chicago for seven years now and never been mugged. The city seems to be going through this change (not sure if its good or bad) where income and safety are polarizing - the downtown is much more expensive and also much safer than it was 5, 10, 20+ years ago. Most of the crime folks hear these days comes from neighborhoods outside the downtown area.

That being said I do carry solid professional photo insurance which covers my gear in the event it gets stolen + other business and liability coverage. As a side note, I'd probably rage on the person who tries to steal my gear while I'm carrying it.
