Looking for reviews of SRB "Elite" filter system

As some of you may have noticed from recent inquiries, I am trying to decide if I can afford to switch from circular to rectangular filters. A big stumbling block is the price of 105mm CPL filters to use with 4" systems (Lee or Cokin 'Z')

Last night I stumbled an alternative to Cokin's P filter system and the price looks quite attractive.

Can somebody provide any feedback on the SRB Photographic "Elite" filter system? They have a kit for £80 which includes the holder, polarizer, and 10 stop ND. ND Grads are also available for an attractive price. Shipping to Canada is affordable too.

However, I've never heard of this company before and would love to hear some end user stories. I've found this positive review from one person but would appreciate some more feedback.

My intention is to use these filters for landscape shots (mostly inland) with these lenses:
  • Tamron 10-24 (77mm filter size) Yes, I expect vignetting to be an issue and will likely use only the ND filters - certainly not the polarizer.
  • Sigma 17-70/f2.8 (72mm filter size)
  • Sigma 70-200/f2.8 (77mm filter size)
Are they good value?

Thank you,
Keith

I looked at the 2min youtube "mini-review" linked from their own website. The fit and finish looks decidedly worse than the Nisi. As you may know, Nisi is another manufacturer than has incorporated a 82mm circular polarizer into their 100mm format holder. I bought mine thru B&H when they had a 24h promotion for $80 usd. I am in process of buying several 100mm filters.

I have a Haida 150mm format filter for my 14-24mm and a collection of nds and grads in that size. The thing with square formats is the tightness with which the filters slide into the channels. Different manufacturers of holder and filters will have varying tolerances. They are all 2mm thick but some just slide in with less effort than others. I've seen some YT reviews where people are somewhat disappointed having to use too much pressure.

Value? Yeah...seems like you get a lot for the money. But Lee, Haida, Nisi, Formatt all have some track record going for it. Seems like there are lots of manufacturer getting into the filter game. Luzid, ICE, SRB, Progrey, etc....

If you look on the SRB website there are references to two reviews.

I can't help you with any information about the filters, but the shop has been around for ages (50 years, according to the website). I used to buy stuff from them by mail order in the days before the internet. I've never had any complaints. They're the kind of company I'm glad to see are still around. A lot of their stuff (clamps, remote shutter releases etc...) was pretty unique.

It might be worthwhile sending them an email or even giving them a call to get some more information about the filters (are they made in-house or just rebranded Cokin clones ? etc...).
