Hi all.

I am having a problem with my RX100M3 that I just cannot figure out.

The shutter will not fire unless I set the camera to self timer mode. It is rendering the camera useless.

I have tried using manual focus in case that was an issue. As a last resort I did a full factory reset and that made no difference.

Every other function on the camera still works fine. I can trigger the shutter fine from my iphone using the app.

The prefocus works fine at half push.

All of this suggests that there is some sort of software issue in it. I tried to reinstall the firmware but the software to do so would not recognise that there was a camera connected to the computer.

It may be a coincidence but the camera will no longer charge via the micro USB port, so I have been charging the battery outside the camera.

I am at the stage of buying a new camera!

By way of background I have used this camera extensively over the past 2 years with no problems. The firmware is up to date and I have not dropped, traumatised or otherwise mistreated it.

Would greatly appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Thanks.

I've read some pretty bad things about Precision, are you recommending them on personal experience? I believe one user got back what appeared to be a completely different and abused camera that was non-functioning. Maybe I'm confusing them with someone else? I had good luck with a single experience at KEH.

Thanks for your response rava777.

yes, did set it to mass storage.

also as an aside it has now resumed charging as normal via the micro USB port.
