Has anyone heard if there's going to be an upgrade to the d750 such as d750s anytime soon and if so what is rumored to be the improvements on it.

I'm thinking of upgrading my D300 a full frame which still works perfectly to a D750, as there are some decent sales on the body for the d750 right now. But if there's an upgrade coming soon I prefer to wait for the upgrade if it includes things such as the same processor as the d500 and the more autofocus points. Is it worth waiting for at this point?

Thanks very much for your opinions.

My D300 (sports body) is a cropped frame DSLR and it appears that you already have the D500 (also a sports body). You just bought the replacement to the D300. I also own the D750, and it is more of a general image taking FF body.

I visit the Nikon rumor site several times a week checking on a 50 MP D8xx. I've seen nothing encouraging for any Nikon FF in quite a while. Seems like such a long time ago but in reality the D750 and D810 were only released in 2014. Does Nikon even do the "s" thing any more? The rumors started almost immediately after the D700 release and I waited 2 years for the D700x. I finally caved and bought a used D3x. A year and a half after that, the D800 was finally announced. The D610 & D810 were fixes for unfixable hardware issues. The D750 has no such issues. The point: I think you are safe to buy a D750.

Hi Mike...

No I do not have a d500 only the d300. I want to upgrade to FG and looking at D750, but it's coming up to 3 years since it's debut. I'm looking to find out what it's upgrade / replacement might have such as some of the features released with the d500 and when we might see a new version of the 750 (e.g. 760).

Thanks Rick. It took forever it seems for the d300 upgrade in the d500. Hoping that a 750 upgrade would be coming soon before.deciding on 750 now. My luck is if I buy the 750 now upgrade will come out shortly after that. One thing that makes.me think one might be close.is that prices are falling on the D750, but that could be a year end thing and for Christmas.

Look at Nikon Rumors they have the D760??

Not a criticism but I wouldn't consider any of these legitimate rumors of an actual camera. Just because an article uses the term "D760" in its text doesn't mean there is an actual camera being referenced. The best guess anyone can make at this time to an actual camera is the assumption that such a replacement must be in the works as a result of the camera's natural product cycle. The D750 was released in 2014. What is Nikon's usual product cycle for such cameras excluding releases designed to fix problems ala D610/D810? The answer to this question will be THE best guess at this point in time.
I am even waiting for Nikon D750 update, lot of websites do claim different dates.

Here is the list of rumors

http://nikonrumors.com/2016/09/11/what-to-expect-from-nikon-at-photokina.aspx/
This says NR does not expect a D760 at Photokina. That's not a rumor. reading something into this is on the reader, as in "NR is mentioning the D760 so it must exist".
Update 22 Dec 2016

The photographer who captured the image reveled more details and according to him the camera was Nikon D750 installed with a custom 20MP high sensitive sensor for test purpose. At the moment there are no proof or information that Nikon will use the same sensor in it upcoming cameras, it was one of kind prototype being used for test purpose only. But the most important thing the images are real and captured from a test unit, we will update you soon as we get any information.
The sole logic here is the declining price of the D750 (in August 2016). Actually if that price from B&H for a D750 is still good, I'd jump on it. Edit: well...that price isn't available but the current price isn't much more expensive plus B&H has a refurbished model for a really good price. Jump on it dude.

When is Photokina 2017? Isn't it usually around September time frame?

That being the case then, even if a D750 replacement (upgrade) is announced, is it fair to assume that the camera would not be available until 2018 then?

Still wondering if playing the waiting game is the right thing to do? I am not in a rush to replace / add to my D300 so speculating on what might be the improvements in a D760 or whatever it may be called, over the existing D750, what I would like to see is perhaps 4K video, definitely its own built-in GPS (not the poor implementation they did with the D500, definitely retain the built-in flash (this was the deal breaker for me for the D500 upgrade), and a higher ISO range.

Interestingly enough, in a comparison of the highest ISO (51800 that the D750 has) with same ISO on the D500 with the D5 processor, the D750's image was clearer than that of the D500, possibly attributable to the larger sensor of the D750.

So would I get what I want if I wait? Dunno. Should I pass up some of the good pricing on the D750 right now at 1999 CDN when the Canadian $ is dropping like a stone vs $USD or just bide my time and wait for an upgrade.

Lots to consider for sure, and I'm sure that there are others out there who are in the same position.

Many thanks to all that have commented so far and who have yet to chime in.

Cheers and Happy New year to you all.

Given the technological advancement, i don't think, Nikon can give 4k full frame video readout at the D760 price point. The D500 didn't come out too long time ago, and the 4k of d500 is crap like 5d mk4 or any other non Sony camera with FF sensor.

I usually get some rumors on nikonrumors website.

They are pretty good with that sort of info.

I'd jump on the purchase of a D750...refurb or slightly used. The D750 is the best camera I've ever used. The AF is spectacular as are the RAW images (don't know about JPEG as I only shoot RAW). Cannot comment on the video capabilities. Not clear to me what you feel is so important that you wait for an upgrade and higher prices...use the money you save purchasing the D750 on lenses!!

If the update is anything like the D5600 or D3400 i wouldn't hold my breath for anything useful..in fact i believe items was removed from the D3400

Maybe the D5/ D500 sapped Nikon R&D budget

Or maybe as its Nikon 100th birthday this year they have spent the D5600/D3400/D760 R&D budget on something special and are going to pull it out of the hat later this year ..........

Just curious as to what improvements to the D750 may be in the works. As it is, I did go for the D750 with Nikon 28-300mm lens. Still retained my D300 with Nikon 18-200mm and Sigma 10-20mm, as that gear has served me well over the years. Just back from first trip with the D750 and about to go through the pics. So far, love what I see and camera performs well. Still learning about all the controls and settings, and suspect this is going to take a bit to fully comprehend and master this camera.

I liked everything about the D500 except for the deletion of the popup flash which made it a deal beaker for me and what I shoot and using it as fill flash.

I opted for the D750 and so far not a bit sorry.

The implementation of the D500's GPS is something they could have done better than the lame attempt they provided in it. Gees, a smartphone can have a built in GPS and a DSLR has a lot more room than a cell phone. I have a Solmeta GMAX GPS which I can use on either my D300 or D750 which, although is a bit big, it is extremely fast at acquiring satellite data and provides a large amount of data to the camera.

But we don't know what the price will be for the D760 - it would be priced under the D500 or over <shrug>. That might be the tipping point as well (taking full frame vs crop variable aside)
