...and there was a sulphur crested cockatoo staring me straight in the face.

Backed inside and grabbed the camera, only the settings were all over the place, as I had been taking shots of the moon the previous night and the self timer was selected. Ten seconds of nothing when I hit the shutter, then a shot of my foot.

Fumble fumble, gave up and hit auto mode and just managed to grab him before he'd had enough of eating my garden and flew off.

Nothing special, except for the comedy of errors that was the unexpected opportunity. Thought I'd share it for a laugh. :-D

A nice bit of luck!

Great photo of a cool bird!

And I thought I was the only one who did this.

Use of Auto mode certainly had its place here. Glad you were able to finally get the shot of a rare opportunity. :-)

Seem to have pressed the wrong button, inadvertently awarding myself a thoroughly undeserved bonus! My apologies, Alistair.

PS I trust that this revelation will not produce undesirable consequences!

Oh yes, I can identify with that!

Hello Itr,

Great story and great image.

If I were you I'd be using it on my Christmas cards.

Alistair.
Thanks! Also thanks for the Christmas card idea, will do. :-D

Glad to hear others can identify with my wrong settings and the dreaded fumbles when faced with a grab shot. :-D

Also nice that people get a smile out of the shot.

Thanks. :-)
